Sportsbook.com is the first to post odds for the 2006 Cy Young Awards. Pitchers worthy of a mention alongside the famed Denton "Cyclone" Young include the National League's Brandon Webb of the Arizona Diamondbacks, who despite a sore elbow in recent games is the top contender and a 5-2 bet. In the American League, Blue Jays pitcher Roy Halladay beat the Orioles Wednesday, joining Justin Verlander and Curt Schilling as the only 14-game winners in the AL. The native of Denver is the odds maker favorite at 3-1.

Billy Wagner is the next one a 3-1? Are you kidding me? I don't have a problem with a closer winning hte Cy but he's gotta have an ERA way below 2.00 and the SP crop can't be that good that year.

Webb's got quite a lead in IP and ERA even before you adjust for park, which is just amazing. Now, let's just hope this hiccup amounts to him recharging for a stretch run like last season.

If Webb wins the Cy it's going to help me win a debate I had with a friend at the end of Webb's rookie year. He claimed that there's no way in hell Webb would become a successful #1 pitcher in the majors. I contended that once he worked on his control the sky's the limit. Now who's laughing?! Wink
