Perry's first power ranking has the Dbacks in the 9th slot and the highest in the NL West. Can't say I disagree.

A little too good of an opinion on the DBacks. I think we've definitely got potential, but I don't see us as the 2nd best team in the NL.

If more mainstream writers continue to make these kind of predictions, it's gonna be hard to surprise the pundits. I figured they'd be ranking us below the potential instead.

Well, he does write in his intro its based on team potential rather than offseason moves, and although I don't think they are quite ninth, I still believe they should be on the top half of the rankings.

I did enjoy the kind words on the Giants.

Quote:
Only the Cubs spent more than the Giants this winter, and all those dollars will get the Giants a last-place finish. The roster is decrepit, and the farm system has not a whit of depth. Get comfortable in last place; you're going to be there for quite a while.

i had no idea that they were in such bad shape as far as their farm system went. Last year Cain and Hennesy were coming up so everyone was talking about how strong their pitching prospects were, i guess after that they didn't have much.

dave roberts to replace alou? zito to replace Schmidt? downgrades in both cases

They not only have the Dbacks rated number one in the NL West, but second to the Mets in the entire NL.

Perry's fluff is of no use here.....but it is fun to stick that in front of the faces of some of the lesser read fans who only put stock in "mainstream media" reports and analysis.

Are any preseason "rankings" really of use? He's Just filling his quota of articles for the week.

I did read that, and found that to be pretty funny, although, i think that was more a shot at us the "Fans" than Perry himself.

My problem with perry is that he never really gets in depth into anything. His articles never seem to have anything to say that we havent already seen from somebody else... second hand journalism to me - if there is such a thing... Old news.

Im not a big fan of these power rankings at all... its called standings dude... theyve been around a while...

man im grumpy today...
