Anyone out there have a clue for getting a good deal for Disneyland? We want to take our kids there for their birthday and their website wants about $1900.00 for a 3 day package <tickets, room at a disneyland resort, and food tickets>. That seems a tad high for 3 days.

Am I just being cheap?

You can stay cheaper in the area than at any official "Disneyland resort." Check Travelocity, Orbitz, Hotels.com, etc. to find much more reasonable lodgings in the vicinity.

Disney's always been a tad costly. For three days at $1800, we'll put your family up in our guest room, show the kids Disney films 'til their hearts are content, and give full access to the pool with awesome mountain views. Heck, we'll even throw on a Goofy costume for that price. Wink

If that's not exciting enough, try a site like THIS ONE to save $$ at the real place.

We are going in a few weeks. I am actually here to start a new topic regarding that when I saw this. We are a family of 6 and got 3 nights in a hotel and 3 day park hoppers(Includes Disney land and California park) for abot $1200.00. I could have gotten cheaper but my cash did not come in on time and all the real good deals were gone. I figure I lost about $300.00 because of that. Evil or Very Mad I will be back with a link for you in a moment.

Here's how we do it. We usually stay at embassy suites,. Get a decent breakfast and tanked at the manager reception on the house.

Make sure you get to Dis at gate opening, the attractions aren't packed yet. learn, the fastway for the afternoon. If you stay off campus, go in off ball road, and park in the parking structure.

California Park, can be done in 3/4 of the day. California Soaring, is a beautifully done ride. California Screaming is a must as well.

Dis, still my fave, but kids over 12 don't have as much fun.

Now that said, If your going for more than a couple of days, I'd buy the 2 day hopper, split the days, and take 1 day to go down Joe's Crab shack and have lunch off Pch overlooking the Backbay. newport/balboa its 1 star affordable for lunch and good. Then cruise down to Laguna for Ice Cream. turn around go all the back to Huntington down pch, and be back for manager's recption again and get tanked.

I never found anything decent at Dis to eat. Even at all the new places.

In california adventure....
I would definitely hit up soarin' over california. I like the rafting ride in california as well. The maliboomer and tower of terror are decent for older more thrill seeking riders. For younger kids the aladdins theatre and the "off the page" area are definite must do's in my opinion. Also fliks 4D stuff is pretty cool.

Disneyland is still the better one in my opinion. If you have young kids, the best move you can make is to hit up fantasyland first (peter pan, mr. toad, snow white, etc). The thing is that those will get long after the first hour or two and will stay long all freaking day and do not have fastpasses. The other rides will have long lines but if youre careful you can grab fastpasses for rides like space mountain, splash mountain, haunted mansion, and indiana jones (avoid grabbing fast passes for the more minor rides because there is a maximum number you can have at any one time).

If youre looking at older kids I would hit the major rides first and just do one or two days. If youre going with younger kids I think three days is doable. If this is the first time youve gone to disneyland in a while, I would grab just disneyland tickets if youre only going one day but would grab the park hopper tickets in any other situation. California adventure is definitely worth the money.

As for eating, there is a mexican/bbq place that is relatively cheap called rancho del zocalo in frontierland of the main park. Ive tried many places in downtown disney with basically everything being expensive and not all that great. I gave hollywood weiners two tries at california adventure and did not like it really either time. In california adventures there is a pizza place called pizza oh mow mow or something like that that was decent price if you like pizza and the place next to soarin is also decent food for families... same old overcooked burger for $7 or something like that but decent by comparison.

We usually check hotwire and get decent rates for hotels nearbye. The lines have been tempered enormously in the last couple years by the fastpasses and the additional park. If you try to hit peter pan at the end of the day though, you will wait an hour on most days. If you fastpass space mountain or splash mountain though, youll have to come back later but it will only be a 15 or so minute line.
