MlbTradeRumors has an article about the possibility of A-Rod opting out of his contract after 07. Not much new there but it did make me think about what would happen to the money owed NYY by Texas if he did opt out.
Would Texas still have to pay NY? If so this would be a huge windfall for the Yankees. If Texas wouldn't have to continue paying, man they've gotta be crossing their fingers.
Either way I don't see A-Rod finding more $$ on the open market unless he's just interested in more years <in case his 1/4 Billion isn't enough financial security for him>. |

I can't imagine he'd opt out of his contract for more money.
It's far more credible to believe he'd opt out to get the heck out of NYC and/or playing for the NYY!

I don't see anyone offering him more than 27MM/yr and as was mentioned in the comments on that sight, I don't see Boras going for a pay cut for one of his clients.
Barring a trade, I don't see A-Rod leaving NY. With one more bad <if you can call it that> season <or shall I say post season> the MFY might be inclined to let him go. |

Unless of course A-Rod has another MVP type season and leads the Yankees to a World Series victory with a great post season or world series performances. Then I don't think he would be opting out. |

I'd die laughing if he opted out and went to the Red Sox. |
