Heard KJZZ playing all local blues icon Chico Chism music last night, so figured he had passed on....

Chico once played with Howling Wolf in Chicago, but had been a fixture in the Valley for years. Whenever you showed up at the Rhythm Room, Chico would invariably be there--either opening for the main act or just hanging around in his straw hat hawking his CDs whenever he wasn't the main act.

He died early Sunday morning.

Sorry to hear of Chicos' demise. I've run into him playing around the valley several times over the years. A great loss to the Phx blues community.
