The Jays and Lyle Overbay have reportedly agreed to a four-year, $24 million extension.
Obviously, Overbay isn't a Scott Boras client. He was due about $12 million in his final two years of arbitration, so he's giving away his first two years of free agency surprisingly cheap. We're surprised the Jays were able to get this done for much less than $30 million.

I'm very happy for Lyle. Joe Jr. and Bob Brenly can get together and kiss each other's butts.

It is a nice deal for them; however, Overbay does get some security. Don't forget that he's 30; 1bmen in their 30s tend to decline pretty fast.

All the more reason for him to try to cash in bigger on what might be his last big contract.

Good for Lyle. A class guy.
