nice little fluff piece about the twins on mlb's site.

Quote:
Johan Santana won his fourth straight Pitcher of the Year honor, but chose to give his award to a pitcher that he felt was more deserving of the honor, the recently retired Brad Radke. Santana called Radke up to the stage where the two hugged and the two-time Cy Young Award winner handed over the trophy.

"I don't think I will ever find a person that I respect more than Brad," Santana said. "I learned so many things from him about being a pitcher, a teammate and a person. He might be gone from the clubhouse now, but in our hearts he'll always be there."

Radke was on hand to accept the Bob Allison award, given to the player that best exemplifies Allison's work ethic while also providing leadership. And on a night full of tributes, it only seemed fitting that Radke received the final award and received one of the biggest ovations of the evening.

"This is a great honor," Radke said of getting the award. "I've been lucky to be part of a first-class organization since I signed in '91 out of high school and I couldn't have with played with better teammates than the ones I've had here."

growing up a tigers fan, i had to hate the twins. it was a rule. but it was pretty hard to root against them in the playoffs this year, with radke pitching on a knowingly shredded shoulder and everything.

Didn't Santana then go on to say in 2 years he'd be playing in the desert for a huge "home town" discount? <Maybe he's buying a house here sometime soon>

Well, Arizona is closer to Venezuela than Minnesota is. That qualifies us as "hometown," right? Wink
