"Forget Brian Lawrence?
"I think most people have," he said""
"The scouts pointed their radar guns and then composed their reports on sheets of paper wedged into clipboards. ...Tim Schmidt from the Arizona Diamondbacks." was present.
"...Odle, the agent, said. "We're probably looking at a one-year deal. If someone wants to invest more, we'll talk about it. We think there are very few opportunities like this. But however it goes, it's a great opportunity for Brian to get back and move in the right direction. He's just excited to be throwing again."
""Yeah, it'd be nice to be healthy in this market," he said. "But when it's my turn, it's my turn. I just want to pitch again. And whoever does take the chance and throws me a bone, they're not going to regret it. They'll get off on the cheap side.""

He had pretty good years from '01 through '04 and 200 plus IP '02-'04. If our FO can determine that he is healthy again, it may be worth a flier.

The more I think about this the better it sounds to me. I feel that this would be a much better risk/reward senario than Mulder in '07.
We may be able to get him on the cheap. |

Brian Lawrence wants to pitch for the Rockies, and they've attended his private workouts. The Nationals acquired Lawrence for Vinny Castilla on November 3rd of last year, only to learn in February he'd be out for the season with a labrum tear. Lawrence is a pitch-to-contact guy with good control. His heavy groundballing style could fit in Colorado.

Maybe Arizona?
Anyone have his GB to FB ratio? |
