Reserve infielder Junior Spivey and the Chicago White Sox agreed to a minor league contract today.
Spivey spent last season in the St. Louis Cardinals' organization, batting .200 with nine homers and 29 RBI's in 89 games for Triple-A Memphis.
His best season was 2002, when he hit .301 with 16 home runs and 78 RBI's for the Arizona Diamondbacks and made the NL All-Star team.
The 32-year-old Spivey has a .270 average in five major league seasons with Arizona, Milwaukee and Washington. |

The Cardinals did too... He was penciled in as their starting 2nd baseman before Spring Training began last season. Junior willingly signed on to play in the minor league system to get back into the swing... with disappointing results.

I saw him playing with the Memphis Redbirds and he was hitting in the low .200's. He looked sooo bad.

I think alot can be surmised by Juniors power spike in 2001-2002, followed by years of injury and decline. |

Reading that article again reminds me of how pissed I was at Gonzo, Bickley, and the rest of the media for misrepresenting Kendrick in that article.
Quote: |
"I don't have any suspicions about Luis Gonzalez," Kendrick said. "Any more than I would about any other player. We talked about when people's numbers increase that others automatically conclude that there has to be something that was illegal about it. And I think it's unfair to think that way. I think the world of the guy. I used him as an example of how people would react. I'm not one of those people. . . . Because Luis is such a high-profile guy here and because he has had some extraordinary years and some lesser years, people - I'm not one of them - have pointed fingers at him. I think that is unfair and unfortunate." |
Somehow, a very straightforward quote that Kendick absolutely denies that Gonzo used steroids was spun into Kendrick accusing him of using steroids. Shame on them and more importantly shame on Gonzo for turning into the media's bitch about that.

Any assertions to the effect that Dan Bickley is a transsexual are completely unfounded and absolutely untrue. |
