At this point they should probably just shut him down for the season. I wonder if he could be eligible for the AFL. The Dbacks would probably have to petition the league.

Swanson reporting to Hillsboro tomorrow...
The first overall selection of the 2015 MLB First-Year Player Draft, Dansby Swanson, will embark on his professional baseball career with the Hillsboro Hops. Swanson will report to Hillsboro on August 12th for the first game of a five-game set with the Vancouver Canadians. Tickets are available at www.hillsborohops.com or by calling the Hillsboro front office at (503) 640-0887.
It is yet to be determined how long Swanson will play with Hillsboro. With his assignment to the Hops it means that the Diamondbacks’ first six selections of the 2015 draft (Swanson, Alex Young, Taylor Clarke, Breckin Williams, Ryan Burr, and Tyler Mark) either currently play for Hillsboro, or logged time with them during this season.

1) Arizona Diamondbacks: Dansby Swanson, SS, Vanderbilt: Junior, hits right, batted .348/.443/.656 this year with 15 homers, 15 steals, 42/43 BB/K in 247 at-bats. Most complete player in college baseball, impressive defensive shortstop along with a multi-threat bat. The Diamondbacks made the obvious and, in my view, the correct pick. He won't need long in the minors and could be an All-Star. RESULTS: Dealt with some injury issues but played well for Hillsboro in the Northwest League, hitting .289/.394/.482, showing pop, plate discipline, and solid defense up the middle. A very good debut that met expectations. Minimum Grade B+.
