saw that yesterday. pretty surprising actually

Shipley was preseason #26 and while having a mediocre year in Mobile, hasnt seen his stock drop enough to drop out of the top 50... especially given how many of the preseason guys ahead of him are not ineligible for the list. 14 of the 25 prospects ahead of Shipley have made their debuts.

Blair was #40 and has generally increased his stock from a prospecting consensus.

Bradley was #25 and obviously is ineligible now. Same with Tomas who was #57 and Lamb #78.

Touki was #71 and didnt make the midseason 50.

Quote:
Roy (Indiana): How close did Diamondback prospects Aaron Blair and Brandon Drury come to making this list? Particularly surprised by Blair's omission.
John Manuel: Blair’s another guy to see here with the Pan Am Games team. I love Aaron Blair because he pitches off the fastball and commands it; he just doesn’t have the K/9 numbers that jumped out like some others did. I think we still see him as a solid No. 4 starter, maybe a No. 3 if it all comes together. We could be light there but that’s generally been the feedback we’ve received. The pitchers in the 20-50 range, from Berrios to Henry Owens and all in between, either have gaudier performance numbers or gaudier radar-gun readings (or least have had the gaudier radar gun readings). Drury is a bit further off; the .670 OPS at Double-A doesn’t move the needle. I like Brandon Drury, good solid prospect, not a top 50 consideration.

Quote:
Will (Birmingham): How close was Aaron Blair to the top 50 and do you expect him to make an appearance in the Diamondbacks rotation at some point this year?
J.J. Cooper: If you asked who was 51 he would be the best answer. Some iterations had him in the back end of the 50. He’s a much safer bet to be a big leaguer than someone like Tyler Kolek but Kolek has a bigger upside if he puts it all together. I expect he’ll be in the D’backs rotation by early 2016 at the latest.

Looking at BA's list, I slot Blair in the #30-35 range and Shipley in the mid 40s.

Bradley Zimmer, my pick for the Dbacks instead of TT, is now at #23. Wouldn't be surprised to see him in the OF for the Indians early in 2017, if not sooner.

With no players in the top 50 I cant complain when they trade the farm for the missing playoff piece?

Ah, the long lost sliver lining, discovered.
