**Arizona Diamondbacks first round pick Stryker Trahan is off to a great start in pro ball: 8-for-18 (.444) in six games for the Arizona Rookie League Dbacks, with two homers, a double, and seven walks. Well, he's off to a great start with the bat anyway: his defense is another matter. Starting five games behind the plate, he's already committed four errors, given up three passed balls, and allowed 15 steals without catching anyone. Small sample size and all, but it seems clear that he has quite a bit of work to do on defense.

Might even replace Upton if he leaves, but leave him at catcher as long as possible.

Thank goodness he can hit.

Might want to try a glove in the field instead of his mothers cooking pots and pans

I say let him develop/learn as a catcher. I think you can learn alot of the technique back there. Harder to learn to be a good hitter.

Nick just posted an awesome little clip of Stryker showing some ''Southern hospitality'' to a Mariners baserunner.

Might be worth keeping him behind the plate to see him doing this to the likes of Nyjer Morgan in the future :evil:.

HA! Just braced himself and leaned into the kid, knocked the air clean out of him.

Another interesting little tidbit from Nick's blog regarding Trahan: his name is pronounced as “Traw-HAW.”. Almost everyone i've heard speak about him so far has been pronouncing it as Tray-Han.

Yep. It's that Cajun dialect. I've lived here for 7 years, and am still getting used to the accents and such. It's like how you first pronounced it there, with a HAWN at the end. He played HS ball about 30 minutes from where I live; my brother actually played against him in HS.

For my money, they got his placement approximately right (I'd take him over Brinson, but it's a pretty close debate; just depends on which kind of athlete you prefer - power/strength or speed/levered). The placement of the people around him... yeah, no. Almora and Gallo belong around spots 10 and 11 for me, respectively, and Mazara and Guzman belong in spots 2 and 5 for me, respectively.

Appears that his mother has passed away:

@strykert25 5m
Never thought I'd say this so early but at least there's no more pain. Rest in peace mom

Condolences.....

Far too young to lose a parent.
