Taking family out to movies tonight, so will miss this game, and will be at tomorrow's game, so probably not posting too much in the game threads these next 2 days, but figured I'd get one started
BB-REF game preview here
I don't think we have anyone on current roster thats ever gotten on base vs. Velsaquez
I think this is a big start for Ray. My gut tells me if he does not have a good start tonight he will be 1-2 starts away from losing rotation spot, maximum

The Phillies just took a series in San Francisco. Three one run games. What IS it with home teams this year? Makes no sense. Something WIERD has got to be going on and it appears to be affecting the games.
*
If Ray has a bad start tonight, I blame the coaching staff. He has some good stuff, it's just a matter of putting it together consistently. That's what pitching coaches are supposed to do - as I learned it.
*
Enough evidence has been gathered to conclude that it is harder to pitch in Colorado AND Arizona than anywhere else in the league. We have seen Schilling and Johnson in the past, we see Greinke today. It can be done.
Looking at my scoresheet from yesterday, Bettis wasn't that great but Corbin was the wild one. Chad walked three and had only one other 3 ball count.
Prior to Cargo's salami, Pat walked 5, and three of them scored.
*
While pitchers are usually more prone to wildness in the first, Corbin didn't issue a walk till the 10th batter, then walked two of the next three.
What happened to his command the second time around? O, what mysteries
this great game creates!

Charlie Blackmon happened. As soon as Blackmon hit that homer Corbin crumbled.

Velazquez has pitched at Chase only once, and that as 1 inning in relief last year in that 21-5 laugher ass-kicking we got from Houston. He hasn't pitched at Colorado either. He could be in for a shock tonight. And I still wonder if he has recovered from getting his ass set on fire by the Cubs at Wrigley giving up
7 runs a few days ago. Bring on the aces, and we will trump them. The bigger they are, the harder they fall.

The ump doing the Royals-Cards game has a huge freaking strike zone. Just rang up a guy on a curveball in the other batters box practically.

Apparently Culo is making his return to Coors tonight. I hope he gets booed. Just because.

Alot of these Royals hits have been on curveballs by Wainwright. Yeah, that is what happens when you go curve, curve, curve to Major League hitters...

And when Huddy and Estevez go fast ball, fast ball, fast ball to Major League hitters, they go BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! and E.R.A.s go up in smoke.
Gotta mix em up.

The Phillies bats finally seemed to wake up the last couple of days, hopefully they don't stay woken in our little house of pitching horrors.

HERRERA: single up the middle off a 4 seamer
BOURJOS: 1-1 slider ripped to left, single, Herrera to second
JOSEPH: Called out on strikes, outside corner fast ball
FRANCO: swinging bunt right side, Ray barehands and gets the out at first
runners move up
RUPP:three pitches and strike 3 called
Ray leaves two stranded
here come the Dbax
15 strikes 3 balls, 15 fast balls, so it appears he will rely mostly on them again
