I guess it is.

Too bad Ray couldn't finish 5

Hope Delgado can clean up his mess.

DBacks lead 5-3, top 9th. But in typical dback fashion we have some last inning drama. Astros have two on and no outs. Nail biting time.

Ziggler gets his Doubleplay and then the 3rd out.

DIAMONDBACKS WIN!!!

finish the year with a 79-83 record. 15 game progress from last year. Personally I am very happy with that and have really enjoyed this year. 8-)

Just got back from work. Wish I had been able to do pxp today and yesterday, but whatever. Glad that we won, and I am definitely happy with 79 wins. I hope Peralta, EI, AJ don't crash to much next season. I think Castillo is an almost certainty, though. This was a fun season to watch. The last couple of years, being down 2 runs in the 5th, you felt like the game was already over but not this year. The bullpen is still a bit of an issue. I liked what I saw from Burgos (even though his numbers weren't great) and Bracho and Chafin. I think Chafin pitched so well in his role, I would be hesitant to move him back into the rotation, especially with some of the arms that are due to come up soon. I think we should let Huddy have the chance to win a starting spot in ST if he wants, though.

This was a fun season and I think Chip Hale will get this team in the playoffs very soon. I hope they can get a legitimate #1 or #2 starter in the offseason without giving away young talent. I would like to see them try and trade Tomas and Owings. Looking forward to next year. I think the game threads will be much busier.

I had to work today too, and missed the game.

I will certainly take this year's team over last year's. At least they give us some reasonable hope for future improvement. The offense was very good, the defense was good, and the pitching was...... lackluster.

I do expect AJ and Peralta to be more around what they did in the first half of the season next year, but that was still an OPS around the .790 to .810 range which is pretty darn good.

They were hitting around .340 for the second half, and as nice as that was it seems unrealistic to keep expecting that kind of greatness for them, same with Goldy during the first half.

FWIW, here are the "rest of season" outfielder hitter projections on the last day of the season. Next years projections should be somewhat in this range...although once park factors and league factors are updated they could change a bit.

Code:
Name                    AVG     OBP    SLG    OPS   wOBA
A.J. Pollock            .291   .343   .457   .800   .345
David Peralta           .289   .337   .467   .804   .345
Yasmany Tomas           .265   .300   .429   .729   .314
Ender Inciarte          .281   .320   .380   .700   .306

Oh and Castillo projected for 245/308/422 730 OPS
Goldy 295/400/537 937 OPS which is really good but notable the slugging isnt over 550
