There was a quote from AJ yesterday about not "limping to the finish line" in these final two series'

But isn't that what they did this entire month? Limp through September?

Well.....after a 15-7 start in April, 8 games over .500, then they were just 58-52 6 games over .500 for the next 4 months, IOW more or less treading water waiting for the other teams in the division to wake up, which they did.

September so far they are 10-15 and obviously struggling. They've very much been a little engine that could until recently

They are in danger of losing a playoff spot.....but I hope they make it. The nature of their offense though seems to be vulnerable to post season level pitching. And they won't have the home field advantage in any series, which is a big disadvantage for this team in particular.

Make it or not, this is a building block season for Houston. Nobody expected them to make post season this year, but after leading all year it will be a disappointment if they don't make. But young teams need to learn how to win sometimes and it takes a couple of seasons to figure it out.

EDIT: Worth noting they are 6 games under their pythag and 20-29 in one run games.

Sorry, I meant AJ Pollock, not AJ Hinch.

What were we in 2007 in both categories? Curious.

Would not be shocked if this series was a slugfest

Ray actually worse vs. lefties this year :

Edit, not many homers vs. LHB but must be a lot of doubles and triples.

Code:

Split     PA HR SB CS BB SO SO/W   BA  OBP  SLG  OPS
vs RHB   375  7 10  1 38 82 2.16 .240 .328 .380 .708
vs LHB   123  1  0  0  8 26 3.25 .268 .320 .420 .739

That was the flukey year they were +11 better than their pythag (Pythag was 79, but they won 90).

32-20 in one run games.

Not gonna do PBP, but can summarize

3 Rockies hits and a sac fly in the first off of Ray result in 2 runs.

Left a lot of balls up. Won't last long tonight if he doesn't get the ball down.

Bergman gave up 7 runs on 10 hits last time against Pittsburgh.

Ender coming off the 4-4 game Sunday.
Flies out to LF quickly

Joe will be happy with Drury batting second
taken a ball and then inside for a ball
he swung at ball 3 there.
can of corn to Blackmon in CF on a 3-1 pitch

doubles to left-center. Not sure Blackmon really read that well.

He is still unproven, but I'll sure take him over the Owings/Ahmed/Hill trio being useless!
