My guess is something more likely something going down on the server side - not seen any error messages, but based on the ones reported, the Apache (webserver) process seems most likely. I've set up some automated monitoring every 15 minutes, both for here and another site I have hosted on the same server. This will a) give us some idea of the scope of the issue, and b) let us know if it is site-specific or broader.
Probably need to give it a few days to get some kind of decent sample size, so I'll report back at the end of the week.

Yeah, I'm definitely seeing something here. Experienced it twice myself this morning, once at 8:44 [seems to be the same one mentioned by Retired above] and again at 9:01. There are no entries in the server log indicating a connection attempt at that point, so it seems to be a little higher upstream. I've opened a ticket with our hosting provider.
Please continue to report outages. However., as well as the time, it would be helpful if you could also include:
1) The IP address from which you're connecting (the site whatismyip.com will tell you this)
2) Your Internet service provider - trying to see if there's any common theme in terms of that.
We appreciate your patience. Intermittent issues like this are a bitch to track down and resolve, so I can't guarantee an immediate fix, but I'll keep nagging our provider. I have some back-channel methods I can use if necessary, but let's start with regular support.

Just sent the IP address, the ISP is Verizon FIOS.

8:22 EDST got in on 3rd retry, but it reoccurred at 8:24 as I attempted to post this, which resulted in another at 8:28 after clicking submit. Maybe this time it will work.
Edit: It worked, but happened again around 8:44, I think.

I finally was able to get someone at the hosting provider to reproduce the issue last night. While they said they couldn't see an issue, it does seem to have been more reliable today. Here's a screen shot of my site monitor for the last 24 hours:
It checks every five mins. The red bars are times when the site was down, and you can see it has been much better since this morning. Hopefully, you're seeing this too, but I'm going to keep monitoring for now...
