Thought we'd restart this, too.
I'm going to see Dinner for Schmucks tomorrow.
I've heard it's awesome. Has anyone seen it?

I finally watched Food inc. last night. Good movie but may fall into the category of I was better off not knowing that. I had read Omnivores dilemma so I knew where they were going but seeing it........... :o
I really want to raise my own food now and the hell with these big companies. They are killing us.

If you've already read Fast Food Nation, you are already prepared for much of the content of this doc.

Reviews for Dinner w/ Schmucks are all over the map... think I'll wait on that one. No need to rush to theater when it can play as well (or as badly) as NFLX rental

While on vacation I saw The Kids Are All Right (good date flick) and Cyrus (you can probably wait and rent it).

BTW, best film I've seen this year so far is probably Winter's Bone. Not sure if it's playing down your way, but you should add it to your Netflix queue if it isn't.

I am hearing a lot of good things about Joan Rivers-A Piece of Work. It is playing at the Loft so I may check it out.

Winter's Bone is currently screening at the Camelview 5. That is on my agenda for this week; will stop by there after work one of these afternoons.

Note: make it THIS afternoon. Appreciate the heads up... can get this movie in before the Dbacks game starts and can still see most of the Cards game w/ the Astros.

The two things that shocked me were the libel laws regarding speaking out against big food companies and the use of ammonia in ground beef packing facilities. Although I've never been one to buy the frozen ground beef patties I've definitely changed to only buying beef that was ground onsite.

Went to see Despicable Me with my girlfriend a few days ago, we both loved it. Great movie for all ages.

Watched The Bridge which is a documentary about suicide at the Golden Gate bridge. Depressing stuff, I did not realize how many suicides happen there. As depressing as it was the interviews with family and friends were interesting. They tied the interviews in with footage of the actual suicide. Just sad to see what some people go through.

Just saw it.
Meh, it was a good movie... but Steve Carell being so dumb the entire movie made me enjoy it a lot less.

They did not mention that but I had heard that from other folks in the past. I believe the net is always voted down due to aesthetics. My understanding is that they have been trying to put a net up for several years.

He did however take the valuable advice though, to never go full retard.

Watched a documentary called My brothers keeper. It was pretty good. Kinda neat to see how other folks live.

There's 11 films by that name listed at IMDB--some of which are documentaries.

There's also a relatively well known documentary called Brother's Keeper, which was the first joint project by Bruce Sinofsky and Joe Berlinger. It's about a quirky hayseed who is prime suspect in a possible fratricide. The filmmakers later teamed to make a unique behind the scenes doc about Metallica.

I haven't seen Brother's Keeper, but I really enjoyed the Metallica documentary, Some Kind of Monster. Their relationship with the band started when Metallica allowed them to use their music in a previous documentary, Paradise Lost, as well as the follow up to that film. I'd recommend watching both of those. I don't know if Paradise Lost or Paradise Lost 2 have made it to DVD yet. When I saw them (5 years ago) they were only available on VHS. You Tucson viewers will be able to find them at Casa Video.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. It is the one you mention above although I dont know that "quirky hayseed" is how I would describe someone.
