Agree, I finally got to see them when they got back together before he was fired for good. And I got to see them at Red Rocks in CO...IMO the coolest venue ever.

I don't know what is more tragic, his death or everyone's lack of surprise.

One of my favorite STP tunes was actually a cover of the Beatles Revolution. They did it for an event celebrating John Lennon's music for a bunch of stuffed shirts a few years ago. A lot of the artists sucked with their covers of Lennon songs and the crowd, which was pretty subdued to begin with, just offered polite clapping. More polite clapping when STP was introduced, but when the song was over they got a huge standing ovation. They didn't alter the song at all - did it note for note. One of the best Beatles covers I've ever heard.

Top 10 from my HOT 100 playlist.
1. 35, from Little Boys Blue. A group of muscle shoal guys formed a blues band. This might be the best song Van Morrison never wrote.

2. Han Solo, Bob Schneider. Bob is prolific and I dont always get what he's doing but when he knocks it out of the ballpark he does a great job. Love this tune.

3. Love Like That, Mayer Hawthorne. Dudes from Detroit he knows all about that Motown sound!

4. Willow Springs, Michael McDermott. If you are a Dylan fan you will love this. McDermott is HUGE in Chicago mostly unknown elsewhere. Too bad guy is great. This is the title track off his new album which right now is on my album of the year list.

5. Nobody Wins, Brian Fallon. Lead singer from Gaslight Anthem. I like his solo and side projects much better. This is off his solo album "Painkillers" which is the best album of the year so far IMO. Not a bad song on it and it feels like your wearing your favorite T-shirt when you listen to it.

6. Nowhere Fast, Mark Cohn. The Walking thru Memphis guy releases this long ago discarded track. If you like piano playing you will love this.

8. Hudson Commondore, Jason Isbell. Red Rocks September can't wait!

9. Rollercoaster, Bleachers. The other guy from FUN's solo effort. Put the top down on this one and speed on down the road!

10. Long Island Sound, James McMurtry. A uofa guy but still one of the best songwriters of all time.
