Should be an interesting weekend. They must be giddy at CBS to have Tiger & Couples on the leaderboard trying to chase down 21 yr. old phenom Rory McElroy playing in just his 3rd masters..

Freddie:

Quote:
Before the youngsters grabbed the attention later in the day, Couples had fans thinking about the silver anniversary of Jack Nicklaus' magical win in 1986 at age 46, when he stormed from behind and shook the pine trees to beat Greg Norman and Tom Kite by one shot.

Couples, his bad back and all — which he calls a nagging, painful toothache — put himself into contention with a flawless 68. Couples, who has played Augusta National about 200 times, always seems to perk up when he arrives at this place that holds a special place in his heart.

"The course sets up very well. I still have a lot of length. But I know the course more than most people, and it helps," said Couples, who finished sixth last year at age 50. I'm in a great spot to come out tomorrow. I'll have no problem playing Saturday and Sunday. It's very awkward to play golf when it's more painful. I've had a bad back for a long time, but the pain is not a whole lot of fun. I feel good enough to play.

"Could I win? Of course. Am I looking forward to playing tomorrow? Yeah, you'd better believe it."

And if he wins his second green jacket to go with the one he left with in 1992?

"It would be the biggest upset in golf history," Couples said.

Just watched a wonderful documentary on Jack Nicklaus' win in 86. Narrated by Jack JR, who was on the bag that day. Masterful (bad pun sorry) job of showing the historical lessons learned by Jack over the years, and how he applied the knowlege that day..

Did you guys here the Jack Yellow shirt story? Brought tears to the eyes.

Jack one of only 5 buckeyes I respect. I still say Tiger wont catch him

Good to have two guys going for it against my buddy's 1. So far my team is -27 under his only -19. He won the cut line though. I had 3 get cut he only had two. Things can change in a hurry in Majors but I like the kid. Rorry is going to take this.

Huge put just now for McElroy on 17 and clean tee shot on 18. Just got to 12 under and well in control.

Freddie shot par, and Tiger is one over for the day and just hit it over the back of 18th green.

McElroy trying to become just the 5th player in Masters history to go wire to wire.

Just finished watching the tape. Sucked for me and Rory but on hell of a Masters this year.

Sir Nic and me thought the slow play early kept Rory from getting into any type of rhythm and then he hit that tee show and it was all over.

What a shoot out down the stretch from almost everybody. Tiger great front nine but he didnt do anything on the back and when he missed that eagle putt it was over.

GREAT GOLF today and its 10:20pm and I want to go out and hit a bucket of balls somewhere!
