low price tag due to domestic abuse suspension looming.
But if he misses over 45 days he's not a FA in 2016, so that part a win win for the yanks.
Have a fresh Chapman for the second half of 2016 and possible playoffs and ALL of 2017 without paying free agent wages not a bad deal for them at all.
If no suspension, they have him all of 2016...and really only gave up one guy that might be somebody in the future.

I'm just glad he didn't go to the Dodgers -- or anyone else in the NL West.

From the article:
"Chapman will lose 30 days of pay -- $1,856,557 of his $11,325,000 salary -- and 30 days of major league service, which will still allow him to reach six years of service time after this season, enough to become eligible for free agency. He can participate in all spring training and preseason games."
Punishment Chapman doled out:
1. Choked his girlfriend
2. Punched out the window in his car
3. Fired 8 gunshots into his garage
Punishment Chapman received:
1. Lacerated finger (from punching the car window)
2. A slap on the wrist from MLB
He "only" gets to make 9.5M this year and cash in on a big payday next off-season. Way to follow the NFL's lead, MLB.
