Immediate impact -- lessen any role in upcoming All Star Game
Long term status ban more solidified

Rose is, and has always been, a lying piece of shit. Manfred should refuse to meet with him and immediately reinstate the complete ban from baseball.

Angels manager Mike Scioscia believes gambling is worse than PED use
Both disgrace the game... and I agree, gambling is worse.

Totally agree -- posted solidarity with Scioscia's position on a Facebook Sporting News thread and was quickly put down as not being "real" and saw a ton of posts stating that gambling was no big deal compared to steroids. In general, it seems younger people (especially more casual fans) are unaware of the context that compelled MLB to be so adamant against gambling.

According to Tweet from Buster Olney, Manfred's report includes statement from Rose that he continues to bet on baseball (though now legally ... and Rose initially denied betting legally on baseball during his meeting with Manfred before finally admitting "truth"

He should never be able to benefit from being in the HOF.
Maybe someday posthumous...

Yeah, you could safely assume that a guy with a gambling bug who lives in Vegas probably still bets on baseball. I've seen him sitting in that collectibles store in the walkway between Mandalay Bay and Luxor selling his autograph. Kind of sad to me to see the all-time hit king making a living that way, but to each his own.

This should put that to bed forever, or at least until I'm dead. Then I won't care.

Joe and I still have to deal with Rose whining about reinstatement though.
I say he stays banned and then gets in posthumously... or not.

The solution is for Cooperstown to have a wing of the HOF called the Hall of Shame for players like Rose, Bonds, Clemens, etc. The players plaques would be placed there without any kind of ceremony or formal recognition. The plaque for any player in the HOS cannot be placed in the hall until that player has reached the age of 80 or after his death, whichever comes first.

Ditto ... so tired of this non issue
.... and tired of explaining to younger generation of fans about difference between MLB and HOF rules and why gambling prohibition is emphasized in MLB. (Internet is so full of anonymous haters & bashers

I wish MLB hadn't even reconsidered the ban. Rose is the perfect cautionary tale. Even a beloved, no-doubt HOFer is subject to permanent ineligibility.
