Recently, John Dewan published a similar metric in The Hardball Times Baseball Annual 2007 that included all advancement scenarios on singles and doubles. The top and bottom five outfields by his measure were:

Code:
Bottom 5 Outfields 2006
Team       Opps  Extra Bases  Kills  Pct
Giants      428        241     16   .563
Brewers     426        235     12   .552
Padres      384        211      8   .549
D’Backs     434        236      8   .544
Nationals   512        276     26   .539

Is anyone really shocked? Between Gonzo and Green, the Dbacks arguably had the two weeniest corner outfield arms in baseball...

The Dodgers are going to be fun next year, as Gonzo and Pierre can't hit the cutoff guy on four hops, and Ethier can... well, neither.

Yeah... Our players should get an extra 5-10 doubles each off of that OF...

I expect us to do well, though. Our OF is solid defensively. Assuming Byrnes stays in LF, we have a pretty quick OF, as well.

We're gonna be solid in the OF, regardless of who's in LF. Q can cover more ground with a better arm than Green, and Young is faster than Byrnes in Center, taking away those auto triples to R/C, and Byrnes over Gonzo says enough.
