Livan Vs Cook. I'll take this one. And I get to actually watch the game on Tv for once.
After the 18 inning bizarro coors field win, we're going to need Livan to go the distance in this one. Here's hoping he can do it!

I personally thought that for his first start versus Florida...he did great. He did give up 3 or 4, but our offense was slumping...and still is. So maybe last night's game was a mental turnaround and we can get one of those big innings we've learned to love this season tonight. |

After using eight pitchers last night we need our "innings-eater." |

I managed to get free tickets and watch the last couple innings last Friday, and I was sort of impressed with Livon as well.
It reminded me of what we *thought* we were getting with fatty-fat-fat (workhorse innings eater), except that unlike Russ, Livon can actually pitch and throw strikes.
I had seats right behind home plate and there were a couple of swinging strike pitches that registered at 60 MPH.
Nothing more fun that watching a hitter swing through a pitch that slow...unless it's a hitter taking a pitch that slow for a called strike.

Marlins 15, Doggers 4
Miguel Cabrera hit two home runs with 5 RBIs as the Marlins stop the Doggers latest winning streak at six games.

Tonight's game matches Livan Hernandez against Aaron Cook.
Cook is 8-10 this year (27-23 career). His ERA is 3.87 (4.50 career). He has 64Ks, 40 BB, and a WHIP of 1.40 for '06 (185Ks, 165 BB, 1.53). He has pitched 160.2 innings in 24 starts this season. He's gone deep into several games, with (3) 8-inning games (including his last start against the Cubs on Aug. 11th); (2) 7-inning games, and (3) games where's he's pitched into the 6th inning -- all in his last ten games. He had a no-decision game against us (at Coors Field) on July 9th; and a loss (at Chase Field) on July 21st. Over the full season, he's been an "innings-eater": His shortest stint was 4.2 iinings against the Diamondbacks on July 21st. Lefties have hit .320 against him this year; righties, only .259
Hernandez is 9-9 this year (119-113 career). His ERA is 5.30 (4.20 career). He has 93Ks, 53 BB, and a WHIP of 1.55 (1421Ks, 726 BB, 1.41).

Same here...
Seems BoMel's M.O. is to act slowly... cautiously... but usually he makes logical moves for longer terms. Better than having a knee jerk manager that pisses everyone off and causes panic in the clubhouse.
