2-Month Rental for 3 prospects. Free Agent after this season.

Adam Dunn
2 years/$18.5M (2006-07), plus $13M 2008 club option

Cincinnati exercised $13M 2008 option 10/31/07
re-signed 2/06, avoided arbitration ($8.95M-$7.1M)
06:$7.5M, 07:$10.5M, 08:$13M club option ($0.5M buyout)
2008 option may increase to $16M based on award bonuses
if club exercises 2008 option, Dunn receives full no-trade clause until 6/15/2008 & limited no-trade clause for the remainder of 2008 (allowing Dunn specify 10 clubs to which he would accept a trade)

2008 option voids if Dunn is traded before 2008
assignment bonus of $0.5M if traded

1 year/$4.6M (2005), avoided arbitration 1/05
1 year/$0.445M (2004), re-signed 3/04
1 year/$0.4M (2003) 3/03
agent: Brian Peters, Greg Genske

ML service: 6.074

The obvious question to ask is, how does this affect the lineup? Where does Dunn play? Where does CoJack play? Does Melvin shift Tracy to 3B and Reynolds to 2B? Are we gonna make another trade to get rid of Tracy? Are we going to sign Dunn to an extension? Is Tony Clark ever going to see plate time?

The list of questions goes on. This has Moorad written all over it.

And by the way, does anyone else think this trade suspiciously came out of nowhere? Literally. Damn.

Buck is a solid prospect too. IMO, there has to be more to this deal... the Reds have to be paying off a certain portion or something, or our players-to-be-named must be really shitty.

This is crazy shit... only thing that makes sense would be to move CoJack back to 1B, Tracy to 3B, and play Dunn in LF.

I'm speechless

It's called the panic button...and we pushed it after losing O-Dawg.

Not getting this deal at all, but I guess we got the HR guy we wanted. And if Mark Reynolds is Adam Dunn Jr., maybe he can teach his son how to take some walks before he departs as a FA.

BTW, this HAS to be the lineup in whoever made this deal's mind:

1. Drew, SS
2. Jackson, LF/1B
3. Tracy, 3B
4. Dunn, 1B/LF
5. Reynolds, 2B
6. Young, CF
7. Snyder, C
8. Romero/Upton/Salazar, RF

Even if that's not the exact order of hitters, the positions must be what they're thinking.

Sheriff is walking a bit more this year than last year. Just not at the amazing rate of Dunn.

Not a big fan of this deal, but can slowly be swayed into not hating this trade if indeed Reynolds is moving to 2B, keeping Tracy's bat in the lineup

Just a real puzzler

We will get the picks after the year. Depending on the prospects, the cost wasnt that great - but still... this is weird. I fail to see how this helps significanly this year...

They shoudl put Dunn in the 2 spot.
