Braves need a miracle, I don't think its going to happen and am starting to think about what kind of World Series is going to keep my attention:
Best outcome: D-Backs vs Red Sox or Angels
Okay Outcome: CUBS vs Yankees or Red Sox
I imagine the ratings will be high for Fox. I could only bare the Yankees in the WS losing to a team that hasn't won a title in so long.
Worse outcome: Padres vs Indians
I probably wouldn't go out of my way to watch a game just like the 97 WS other then the games C C Sabathia or Peavy pitchers. I like watching guys that big pitch for some reason and I would watch Pevy being he is a local. |

I'll watch any world series. It's playoff baseball, the teams in it are irrelevant, I'll watch no matter what.

The only WS I didn't watch much of was the 2000 Subway series. I had sworn that I wouldn't watch any of it... but still watched a few innings.

The only series ive missed since my baseball fandom hit a new level at the run of the milennium are the 02 Angels/Giants and the 05 Whitesox/Astros efforts

2000 was a horrible World Series. Everyone knew the Yankees were going to win. 1999 was hard to watch because I was still stinging from our NLDS loss to the Mets. I hate NY.

Best Matchup:
Diamondbacks vs. Yankees
Diamondbacks hits a homer (whoever) off Joba Chamberlin in the bottom of the 9th to win it.

Maybe EB hits a blooper to drive in the winning run. |

Lol. EB will lay a bunt down to third to score the winning run.

We already pretty much are. Went to a Sox/Yanks game a couple of summers ago in Fenway and got to talking to the season seat holders around me, and they think we are great for beating "Those who must not be named" in '01.

Yeah--I heard Brenly and some of the guys talking about the reception they got when the Dbacks played the Sox at Fenway in 2002. But beating the Yanks twice?! They'd build a giant "A" statue on the Commons!

They claim it'll be:
Angels at Boston
Yankees at Indians
to start the AL Playoffs

ESPN would explode if that happened to their beloved Joba.

It will be... Boston and Indians have won two more games than Angels and MFYs and Sox can't be matched the first round. That means the first games of the division series, the AL will get the prime time Eastern time games since just one AL game is scheduled for Wed. & Thurs. They'll have to decide between MFYs and BoSox on Friday since the only playoff games that day are AL.

In 2001, some one at Primer made an observation that it was that team's name that allowed them to win so much. People began referring to them as, I think, the Highlanders or that New York team. Sort of like the Scottish Play.
Does any one else remember this?

Latest Odds to win the 2007 MLB World Series
New York Yankees..... 2/1
Boston Red Sox..... 3/1
Chicago Cubs..... 5/1
Cleveland Indians..... 6/1
Philadelphia Phillies..... 6/1
Los Angeles Angels..... 15/2
Arizona Diamondbacks..... 10/1
San Diego Padres..... 13/1
Colorado Rockies..... 15/1
So they are the third choice in the NL -- by a lot -- despite posting the most wins.

You ever hear about Phil Mickelson's (Phx resident) ticket in 2001? He bought it at the beginning of the year when the odds were 30/1 for the Dbacks to win it all (mathematically "average" odds since there are 30 teams...pretty good actually). I believe the amount he bet was $25,000...

Blah, blah, blah. The media ALWAYS has the MFY winning. It don't mean a thing, except in Vegas if you are putting some bucks on it...
