Just heard Todd Walsh repeat a statement from the club that they've scheduled a press conference for today at 1:30.

What is this about?

Hopefully not an Eric Byrnes contract extension... RJ retiring?

They're probably announcing how to get World Series tickets.

Maybe it's a Byrnes extension but for Josh and not Eric.

Walsh said it was something about the future of the Diamondbacks, and being kind of secure.

I would bet an Orlando Hudson extension before a Byrnes extension.

Seriously, if it's an Eric Byrnes contract extension, I'm going to be seriously pissed.

If so, any guesses as to the $ and years?

Now, an O-Dog Extension, that's not that bad, unless you're Callaspo...

My other thought was some kind of trade, but that seems unlikely...

Dave Burns on KTAR is trying to confirm what this is about, but he is speculating that it's an EB long-term extension.

Burns now says it's 95% certain that it's an EB extension. If so, goodbye Quentin.

And CarGon.

That would be really, really bad. Long-term ramifications on the rotation, especially with RJ trying to come back next year.

(as Luke said to DV): NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooo!

But if a JB extention... it would be more like Sally in When Harry Met Sally:

"Yes... yes...Yes.... YES!"

I guess, FO lost hope on Q.
Even then, D-backs still have CG.

EB extension still doesnt make sense....

I won't believe it till I see it. The FO knows better than this. They haven't given me any reason to believe they would do something like this.

Burns is now saying that the sudden U-turn in philosophy (if this is an extension announcement) is due to preventing the further loss of "casual fans" from "losing the face of the franchise two years in a row."

If Eric Byrnes is indeed signed to a contract extension, I will have to see the years and $$. Edit:(bah, submitted before i finished my thought) Honestly, I don't think the front office is stupid enough to make a move like this. I believe Byrnes was looking at getting a GMJr type deal. Locking up Byrnes to a 5 year deal is a complete 180 of the steps the FO took by clearing out the big contracts over the last two years.

If there is truth to this extension buzz, hopefully, it's for no more than three years(I'd say one, but i doubt EB is going to sign a one year extension)

Anyway, I really really really really hope this news isn't true.

Shit!

If so, then the ownership is kicking in the bucks. It won't be due to what Josh Byrnes would do.

After such a great road trip... I'm now on the verge of getting depressed. Shocked
