RHP Dave Bush (7-7, 4.86 ERA)
Bush gave up one run on seven hits in seven innings July 6 at Washington and won for the fourth time in his last five decisions, a stretch that includes four starts and one relief appearance. He has a 3.15 ERA in 45 2/3 innings in eight outings since May 30. Before that, Bush had lost three in a row and five of his previous six.
Also:
Chad Tracy likely will return to the lineup after pinch-hitting Sunday to rest his right knee (tendinitis).
He's 2-for-7 (.286) with a double and three RBIs in his career against Bush.

Milwaukee catcher Johnny Estrada has been struggling at the plate recently, but he'll have extra motivation when he takes the field against his former team Monday night.
Quote: |
"We never got off on the right foot there for whatever reason," Estrada told the Brewers' official Web site. "Everybody was to blame, not just Melvin. It came from the top, from (general manager Josh Byrnes) down to me. It was just bad communication, and it went from bad to worse and things went out of control." |
Gee, could have it been your inability to hustle your fat tub of lard down to 1st after your AB's or your constant whining, especially if you were benched for a game or two...

WOW...more than a little surprised to look at the lineup on Foxsports.com and see Conor Jackson is playing LF tonight.
It will be interesting to see how it works out. |

This is NOT going to be good -- it is a BIG mistake, imo...
Earlier today, we saw an ad for the website "HouseValues.com"; and, in the ad, it shows a valuation prepared for a customer. The name shown (only for a moment)? Bob Melvin.
Hmmm...

As a Brewer fan, I think I'll keep my mouth shut on this decision.

I guess Mevlin is doing all he can to get that big .267 average into the line-up since it's one of the higher ones on the team.

Why are you guys acting surprised?
Hairston is an IF and he played OF as well.

After Hairston underwhelmed with his performance at 2B in 2004, he went back to Tucson, and it was there that he made the "transformation" from IF to OF -- over the course of TWO seasons.
To my way of thinking, that is significantly different than throwing Conor Jackson into left field after his having played first base exclusively over the course of several seasons...

After doing some research, let me edit my original post...
Connor played 29 games in the OF for Yakima in 2003, an undetermined amount in 2004 at two different levels (but he did play there) and 17 for Tucson in 2005, as well as one game in LF for the Dbacks that same season. It's not as if it's a completely foreign area to him.

Well for starters...
Hairston did start out as an infielder (2B) and did not perform well at that position, so...the FO decided to move him to the outfield, honing his craft for a couple of years down in the minors.
Simply put - you usually can't expect a player to perform decent at another position unless he's played at that position before...
I hope they (mgt.) knows what they're doing here??

Ok, interesting...but if someone "has" to go to the OF, shouldn't it be Tracy?

This is a joke.
How is anyone supposed to get a read on what these players can do when they're being jerked around at every turn? How are they supposed to develop?
Pathetic. I'm not spending another dime on this team until they get their act together. No way in hell am I going to help fund the Cubs/Pirates West. |

Aren't Jackson, Reynolds, and Tracy now playing at the positions where they each have the least amount of experience?
This organization has no credibility in terms of evaluating defense. |
