Thought I'd start a thread to throw in interesting little facts and misc. bits of information. Could be a stat, or something interesting about a player or coach. First one I'll throw in here: So far the D Backs have hit into the fewest number of Ground Ball DP's in the NL, (13) and second lowest number in the majors. LINKConsidering the team OBP is 1 point above league avg at this moment in time, thats pretty good. Of course this is on large part because the D Backs are the most fly ball prone teams in baseball GB/FB ratio, and a lot of the "OBP" is actually homeruns. Still, avoiding DP's is good, and the team has done that well

Only two players had more than 25 hrs and 25 steals in the majors last year. One an ex Dback and the other a current one.
CarGo and CY.

First 11 games vs. Last 20 games. It would sure be nice to have both going well at the same time Hitting Code: G R/G BA OBP SLG OPS 1st 11 5.8 .293 .360 .473 .833 Last 20 4.0 .217 .295 .395 .689
Pitching Code: G R/G ERA 1st 11 6.4 5.97 Last 20 4.3 3.84

While it's true their number of opputunities to hit into a double play are in the bottom third of the league, at just 6% the percentage of times they have hit into DP given the opportunity is by far the lowest in the NL NL Situational Hitting Chart(DP chances about 2/3 to the right of the chart)

By the way, check out productive outs in the chart above.
D Backs rank dead last. LOL

Didn't Upton get a leadoff triple, then somehow loading the bases, I remember back to back Ks, and Reynolds popping up to Posada.

An interleague matchup in June featuring a first place team and a last place team isn't. FWIW, Rivera actually had 6+innings in the 2001 World Series, the bottom of the 9th is what people remember. I had actually forgotten about his other appearances in that series.

Although I criticized him heavily for his Ground Ball hitting, ceasless hacking, powerless ways in the past, I always made sure to add the caveat that he is still young. I was not very optimistic he would make the changes necessary to become an above average starter, but he seems to be turning a corner. There are some very real differences in him this year, and the one you point out is probably the most important one of them all.

Thats what I was telling Jersey at a spring training game this year how everyone talked about how young Upton was but not many people talked about how young Parra was. It helped as I was telling him this that Parra went yard.

Here's one that I wasn't expecting. The Diamondbacks have allowed the 2nd fewest stolen bases in the Majors, 19 SB in 49 games. That's a huge improvement over last year. I think the coaching staff's emphasis on pickoffs and holding runners is actually showing in the results. http://www.dbacksvenom.com/2011-article ... lowed.html

Since the beginning of last season, Stephen Drew has had 30 plate appearances that lasted eight or more pitches and his OPB in those is just .233 (one hit and six walks). That’s the lowest such OBP in the majors in that span (min. 25 long PA).

Stole this little gem from ESPN.
The Diamondbacks have a major league-best 27 wins since May 14.

The team has a 102 OPS+ right now. The only season where the team finished with an OPS+ greater than 100 was 1999 (101). The 2004 DBacks had a 77 OPS+
They also have a 102 ERA+. The team also had its best pitching year in 1999 (123 ERA+). 2010 was the worst pitching year for the DBacks (89 ERA+)
