Combined for all the news regarding the MILB affiliates.

Congrats to the Mobile BayBears for clinching the SL 1st half crown this will be the 4th straight appearance in the SL playoffs. They are 41-27 with 2 games left in the first half.

South Bend lost a winner take all for the MWL Eastern title but will still have the wild card and be in the 2014 playoffs. Great job by Hales and his staff!

With the bi-annual September affiliate shuffle nearly upon us, this is the status of our PDC's with the farms
RENO: Through 2016
MOBILE: 2014- has not been renewed. San Diego has not yet renewed with San Antonio so maybe the Missions
will give us another chance
VISALIA: Through 2016
SOUTH BEND: 2014- has not been renewed to my knowledge. Silverhawks have not yet responded to my
inquiry regarding the status there
HILLSBORO: Through 2016
MISSOULA: Through 2020

San Antonio would be a good spot although the SL is a tougher league on hitters, maybe brass might decide to stay in the Mobile. I would think brass would want to continue in SB in the MWL if possible because usually the only teams that open up are the Beloit, Clinton, and Burlington cities and their facilities are outdated.

Talked to Joe Hart, Silverhawks GM, today and he said they are looking for a connection closer to home, but will stay with the Dbacks if they can't find another team closer to South Bend. Beloit, Clinton, and Burlington are farms of Oakland, Seattle, and Anaheim respectively so that won't be any closer to South Bend.

The Cubs MWL franchise is in Kane County just outside Chicago so it is unlikely the Cubs would want to change.
The White Sox are committed to Kannapolis in the SAL through 2018
The Brewers are commited to Wisconsin through 2016
The Twins just completed an agreement with Cedar Rapids through 2020
The Tigers are committed to West Michigan through 2018

If it came down to the other 3 I would take Burlington over the other 2. There are only a few options those 3 cities always are on the carousel because of the facilities. Teams like Cedar Rapids most likely will never be available their attendance went up nearly 100% since joining up with Minny over LAA. Same goes for city's like Kane County, Wisconsin, Lake County, Dayton and so forth.

Reno with one hell of a run to finish the season. They'll be playing Las Vegas in the first round of the playoffs, I gotta root for LV though.

Our top 5 farm teams all made the playoffs. Missoula Osprey finish next week but will be just short of going 6 for 6.

Congrats to the Reno Aces, Mobile Baybears, Visalia Rawhide, South Bend Silver Hawks, and Hillsboro Hops!

As the bi-annual musical farms progresses, it's apparently either Kane County or back to South Bend. Joe Hart said he was looking for a team closer to home and Chicago is the closest one to South Bend. The Cubs have not renewed with the Cougars so we will wait to see if they decide to go to South Bend. Kane County is the only other non-committed low-A city left.

The AA agreement with Mobile has not been renewed yet either. Only four AA cities remain without agreements as of this writing: New Britain (AA-Eastern), Chattanooga (AA-Southern), Tulsa (AA-Texas).

Early in their existence the Dbacks signed on with the South Bend Silverhawks as their low-A affiliate. That was in 1996 or 1997. That long standing relationship has come to an end as the Silverhawks signed an agreement with the Cubs.
* * * * *
The only remaining low A team without agreement is the Kane County Cougars. By default, it looks like they will be our new low A affiliate
* * * * *
Why the Cubs did not renew with Kane County is a mystery. Geneva, Illinois is pretty much a suburb of Chicago.
