The big night is here. It's why ZG was paid the big bucks, and the Dbacks need to ride his golden arm tonight. That's the biggest
thing the Dbacks have going for them tonight. The biggest thing the Rox have going is their experienced manager who may be
able to come up with some way to score enough runs to win this.
*
It would be nice to count on the big guns to carry the offense, but after last Sunday, when the bench scored 12 of the 14 runs,
I have to wonder. Getting those RISP's home has been a hemorrhoid all year and we absolutely must get them home tonight.

Descalso should be hitting second. He is the one with the playoff experience. Why is Marte hitting second? He came from a team
in Seattle that couldn't make the playoffs if they fielded the A.L. All Star team. What does Marte know about playoffs?

Mathis is ZG's personal catcher, AIUI. As soon as ZG exits, I will be looking for Iannetta to come in and provide some late game
heroics although I hope we can build a substantial lead while ZG is out there, so there will be less pressure on the bullpen. Then
we won't have to depend on last minute miracles.

Heading out at 2:45 with Oden to get downtown. Will be inside by 4-4:30

Not expecting to be able to get online during the game as wifi doesn't work when that many people.

Look forward to reading a winning game thread after the game !

as you should be.....

any elimination baseball game can go any way. Although we haven't had a full playoff series to build up to this, we have had a full season.

it's a cool kind of nervous for me.

It’s a nice reward for fans and whichever team wins will have good momentum. And the layoff can’t be good for the Dodgers. Arms get stiff and bats lose timing with this much of a break between games.

So grateful to be watching the Dbacks in a playoff game. To all of you going, have a blast! I'll be rooting the Dbacks on from home.

Believe it or not, this will be my first playoff GDT as a poster. 2011-2013 I was pretty much LOA, did without internet for a while. It wasn't a very fun timespan financially. I joined the board after the Haren trade, but had been a lurker for most of the 2007 season.

Obviously I am hoping for a win, but I think just getting here is an accomplishment. I don't think anyone really thought in March that we were a playoff team (and likewise to the Rockies, Twins and Brewers for hanging in there until the last week).

I got a mix of both right now.

The good excited nervous, and then the bad kind that feels like when anxiety stuff is hitting me.

Some notes to help the nerves before first pitch.

Courtesy of ESPN's Tim Kurkjian:

Greinke was 13-1 with a 2.87 ERA at home. In the five games he started against the Rockies 37 K's just 2 walks!

The only NL team with a lower bullpen ERA than the D-backs was the Dodgers.

JD Martinez is the first player in major league history to finish with 45 homers in a season of fewer than 120 games.

Hall of Famer Rod Carew recently said the best hitter in the game right now is J.D. Martinez.

Arizona is 52-29 at home (only the Dodgers were better at home this season)

Prediction: Diamondbacks in one.

Beer is cold, time to fire up the Brats on the grill. Gotta believe! Let's do this! 8-)

The early key to this game is whether ZG can, from the first pitch, hit corners with all his pitches.
I love the way he brings out the whole arsenal early, and if he can keep from long counts,
this will be a fun night.

Must shut down the Purple early, get a lead, and build on it.

RIP Christina Duarte

Blackmon, as usual, will lead it off
expecting him to swing early and come out aggressive
high ball 1
right side shift, will he go left?
on the second pitch, smash but right to Goldy
unassisted
1 out
