Goldie has looked out-of-sync for some time now. With Greinke looking as sharp as a pair of blue jeans worn for a week during yesterday's game, even though it was only 2-1 when he let the game, and Archie's meltdown tonight (Scream to follow), and the possibility of adding Bad Fernando into the mix as well...

Meanwhile, the Rockies clinched today. This has shades of 2007 - the last time, I believe, the Diamondbacks won ninety or more games. We breezed past the Cubs in the NLDS, but then the Rockies cleaned our clocks in the NLCS (and then the Rocks got their clocks cleaned by the Red Sox). I'm doing my best to remain hopeful; but so far, since we clinched, we haven't exactly looked like a team that's going to go very far in the playoffs.

Oh, yeah; almost forgot. Archie, this Scream is for you...

Currently hitting in the .170s since he came back from the elbow issue I believe

Without many walks or extra base hits either

Bottom of the eighth, score 4-3 Royals.

Godley retires the first batter on one pitch! Orlando grounds to Negron, who tosses it to Godley for the first out.

Two quick strikes on Cuthbert; who swings and misses at a curve ball, and Herrmann can't find the handle at first, but finally gets the ball and throws to Negron at first (in place of Goldy) for the second out.

Ball one to Torres; then a weak bouncer which goes foul on the first base side; 1-1
Ball two.
Called strike; 2-2
Torres strikes out, and we go to the ninth, with the score 4-3 Royals.

Our run in the 8th was scored when Descalso tripled to score AJ from first.

Christian Walker faces Mike Minor, batting for the Herrmannator.
Foul.
Called strike two.
He smacks one right down the third base line. It angles off the glove of Torres and rolls foul, and Walker has a leadoff double!

Vargas will run for Walker. (See what I did there?)

Negron takes ball one.
He pops a bunt right to the pitcher. One out; Vargas holds at second base.
