Was pinch hitting for Lamb a good idea? Even with his poor record vs. Lefties, why not give him a chance?

Not even close to potential bottom

The worst they were in 2015 was 8 games under .500!

No, from a technical standpoint. Lamb could have used the experience hitting against a lefty in this sky high leverage situation, and the team is going nowhere and in the months ahead, it appears the free fall will continue.
*
As it was, Weeks crapped out. If Hale had let Lamb hit, and failed, then Hale would have been roundly criticized for not using Weeks, with veteran status and right handed. The book move was the one he made, whether blindly or he had some stats we didn't know about. Assuming both Weeks and Lamb failed in this situation, Hale looks better going with Weeks.
*
But with Lamb and Goldy, two sure keepers, and a season at the bottom and looking for deeper parts of the sea, gotta give your good players a chance to be even more productive through experience.

I am predicting at least three scratch hits. This offense is too good to expect Jake to throw a no-hitter. Figuring Lamb and Goldy to get one each, and maybe Segura can find a hole somewhere. Oh wait, Segura isn't even in the lineup today. Must be his SCHEDULED DAY OF REST. What a crock! Oh well, no worries. Tomas will get chances to come up with the bases empty, he'll probably get at least one hit today
*
This is a test for Corbin and Butcher today. If ever Corbin needed to come up with a gem of the first water, it is today. It will be interesting to see how long Corbin can stay in this one, in light of Archie's fabulous performance hanging in there on Friday.
*
It's just too bad that the Dbacks' "team builders" can't find the secret to pitching in Arizona. It's even sadder to realize that frequently sitting in the press box at home games is one Randy Johnson, who was a master at the subject. Not that we would ever be able to build a staff of Randy Johnsons
but we should be able to do better than what's been happening.
*
With the draft coming up, we can only wonder who will be drafted #1 only to be traded.

Cubcasters today. Better to be listening to the lesser loved, than Berp and pure chicken krap. The more he tries to be positive about this trainwreck, the more intolerable it becomes. Just enjoy watching The Pitching Picasso at work, and as a baseball fan,
enjoy what should be a masterful pitching performance.
Kershaw 1.46 ERA, Arrieta 1.56 ERA.
They have something else in common: humility. Kershaw saying "I wasn't that good tonight" and Arrieta has said the same thing after destroying another team.

Arrieta 75 IP 46 hits 25 walks 75 Ks
Gabe Morales callin em today
Bourn. quick 0-2 after 97 heat. cross wind 15 MPH coming from NW
ball 3 is fouled into the seats, deep left. three fouls now, goes to 3-2.
called strike 3 on a 2 seamer outside runner. 10 pitches
Gosselin: 1-0 fat puppy taken to go 1-1. low 2-1. swing and a miss 2-2. nice eye low and away 3-2. High for a walk. 6 pitches, 16 total
Goldy: Cubcasters say the unis look "muddy" and hard to see. goes 0-2 on high heat.
called strike 3, Goldy says it's not a strike, zone says it's right on the corner
Lamb: swings and misses at 97. outside 1-1. 2-2 fooled on a downbreaker. 2 seamer outside runner swing a miss badly. Strikes out the side, uses 26 pitches. nothing resembing any kind of solid contact. gets Bourn and Lamb, both lefties, on the outside running 2 seamer. One to Lamb was clearly out of the zone.Scoreless after1/2

Fowler: grounds to Lamb, fumbles it, keeps it in front, gets him, by plenty 1 out
Zobrist: grounds to Lamb to his left 5-3
SHUT UP AND CALL THE GAME YOU MORONS!!!
Still better than Berp tho
Bryant: slow roller to short, beats Owings throw. single
Soler: 94MPH. hit in the foot and he is down (OUCH!)
Baez: strike 1, pretty curve swing and a miss. hard shot to Owings, force at second.
Soler is fine. After 1, scoreless. Corbin used 14 pitches
*
Dbacks being selective today but even if Arrieta uses all his bullets early, the militia in the bullpen is ready.

Herrmann: 2-1. singles left of second
I hope you all can see the movement on Arrieta's pitches
Owings: strike lowzone 0-1. foul tip held 0-2. 1-2. foul at the plate. dying quail to right falls in. Single, Herrmann to second.
Tomas: ball 1 low and away, nice backhand by Miggy. fat puppy ripped to right, splits the outfielders for a 2 run double. There's our three hits, and a couple runs for icing on the cake.
Drury: foul left to go 1-2. swing and a miss high and in, bad miss. 1 out
Corbin: swing and a miss 0-1, no bunt. check swing strike 2. called strike 3 low breaker
5 outs, all K's
Bourn: 1-1. low. 2-1. strike 2 called high outside corner. runs it 3-2. strikes out swinging on low inside breaker. 6 outs 6 Ks, Dbacks string 3 hits for a 2-0 lead going
to last of 2. Cubcasters praising Magadan and Gracie for having this team well prepared to face Arrieta. Indeed! Now if they could do this on an ongoing basis this team might
actually make some progress. 51 pitches for Arrieta through 2

Russell: high chopper to Lamb, quick throw in the dirt, nice pick by Goldy 1 out
Szczur: (Pronounced "Caesar"). single to left over short
Montero: ball 1. low and away. high 2-0. foul left 2-1. way outside 3-1. foul 3-2.
grounds to Goldy, out at second, return to Corbin but never got his foot on the bag
Arrieta: long drive to the Weber sign left center, Bourn leaps and can't catch it.
had it in his glove but couldn't hold it and should have held it. double
Fowler: 2-2 bounces to Lamb, out at first
failure to get the DP cost a run, Corbin 35 pitches, Arrieta 51

second time this series Bourn went to the wall and didn't make the catch. I wonder if his failure to stay with any other team is because of his defense, his offense, or both.
Cubcasters made an excuse for him that it was a tough play, but he had the ball in his glove and basically just dropped it.
