I see that Hale values the player who doesn't do much besides hit into "productive outs" in the #2 spot over the hitter that is actually good at hitting.

Current weather in Pittsburgh is clear, with clear conditions expected to remain through the night with a low of 53*. Looks like a good night for a ball game

Hit by pitches still a subject in Pittsburgh after Vogelsong got his face smashed with a pitch on Sunday. AJ Schlugel called up to replace him.

We just don't have an experienced #2 spot hitter available. Anybody's guess who to put there.

I think Lamb is the best fit they have for that right now, but they don't give him many chances to get better against lefties.

There's no way Hale will bat him 2nd against the lefty Liriano, but maybe against Cole, Hale might try it. I tend to think Hale has Lamb hitting behind Goldy to try to give him some protection.

Top 7 in the Bucs lineup, Cutch at .249 is lowest BA!
                  Jaso leads off
3-0 and none close. way outside
finally gets a strike on a generous call
Jaso lets a fat puppy go by 3-2, almost in the dirt for ball 4
                  *
                  Cutch
1-0, Beef out to talk. 5.53 Highest BB/IP in NL
foul right, Ball girl jumps in stands to get out of the way
and Jaso is picked off first by Beef. not sure what Jaso trying to do there
Pirates challenging. Goldy went for the tag on the right arm, Jaso pulled it back,
and got into the base with the left arm. maybe. and the call is overturned
Goldy should have brought the ball closer to the bag for the tag.
single to left, Jaso to second.
always try to make the tag close to the bag or the plate
                  Polanco
3-2 Miller having trouble hitting the outside corner to lefties
and Miller grooves one knee high and Polanco hit it over the wall, and over the fence
behind it. 3-0 Pittsburgh. headed for the river, didn't quite make it
                  King Kang
grounds to Segura and that's just the first out

And just like that I can turn yet another Shelby Miller game off.

                        Marte
shot into right, hard hit, Owings fumbles it but keeps it in front of him and holds him
to a single. Another hard hit ball off Shelby. No, Virginia, Shelby is not a girl. He just pitches like it sometimes
                        Harrison
Marte steals second, throw goes way wide into right center, E-2
Good Lord, are they still partying from the day off? Terrible so far. Infield in.
fly short left, Tomas hustles in to get it and Marte has to hold third. 2 out
                        *
flies to Owings. Three outs, at least Marte didn't score
3-0 Buccos after 1 miserable, nightmare inning.

With Liriano out there for the black and gold, this game is likely over already

                            Drury
2-1 pitch. started outside and sharply broke over the outside corner. Deadly!
2-2 change, missed by a foot at least
ball girl right side is named SUZIE, hot blonde to go with the black uni.
high fly short left, Mercer screams for it and takes it as Marte pulls up behind him
                            Owings
high fly right center, Polanco has it
3-0 Pitt going to last of 2
Fly that Drury hit reminded me of how the Giants won their game yesterday. Or rather Padres lost it. Short fly to right and the secondbaseman and right fielder couldn't decide
who was going to get it and it dropped in for a walkoff blooper. 1-0 SF

I was watching MLBN (Quick Pitch) last night and they were showing the bottom of the 9th live when the Padres lost.

One of the most agonizing ways to lose for a fanbase, I'd imagine.
