Segura
funny hopper to Story, fumbles it, gets the out at first anyway
Drury
bouncer to Story, a little more tame this time, and routine gun down
Goldy
swings on the first pitch at one in the dirt. Looking for a fat fast ball maybe?
stands 0-2 now. No pitcher in his right mind is going to throw a fat one down the pipe on the first pitch as Goldy can hit first pitches.
Like he did last night, hitting one half way to the Springs.
runs the count to 3-2. called strike 3 on the inside
11 in a row retired. 2-0 Rox going to last of 4

because I'm not sure if Bert hasn't brought that up pretty much every time a ball is hit towards right.

Parra. foul strike 1, was a strike on the inside. screamer up the middle for a single.
Ray not in position to field it. was turning to his right, ball went to his left and went behind him as a result.
Garneau. pickoff attempt nearly goes wild. high ball 1. Think maybe he's falling behind out of the stretch. Up to 70 pitches already. roller left side, Lamb tries to pick it up, can't, Parra safe E-5. can't even get a force
Bettis to bunt.
ball 1 high. feeble attempt to bunt, and fouls it. flipping the bat at the ball.
bunt in front of home, only play is Herrmann to first. nice bunt 1 out
second and third
Charlie. infield comes in. homered last time
infield in, outfield back, big pasture. ominous
only 10 Ks for Charlie this year
and as we expected, little bloop and takes forever for anyone to get it
and the Rockies lead 4-0
Story. gets 0-2. blows him away with low heat. 2 out. All fast balls that sequence
Arenado. high pop down the right field line. Neither Goldy or Drury can get it. falls fair
Blackmon scores.
normally, the second baseman would have had the best shot at that, but with the shift around to the left, he wasn't in the same county.
Arenado with a single that should have been a double
Reynolds. blows him away but
5-0 Rox after 4
Ray at 85 pitches after 4

Lamb flies to Raburn 1 out
Tomas. singles to left, first hit since Segura's lead off single in the first
Gosselin. perfect bunt left side and they have no play
single. first and second
Thing of beauty
Herrmann. blown away, as the sun finally comes out. 2 out, 6Ks for Bettis
Owings. 0-2. big swings, big fouls, strikeout candidate. works it to 3-2. called strike 3 letter high and Owings has a discussion with the home plate umpire.
half way, 5-0 Rox

Ray back out for the 5th
Raburn. 91 pitches and the bullpen is inactive.
3-2. swing and a miss on the backfoot slider. 1 out
LeMahieu. 2-1. way high and LeMahieu backs away but not close to the coconut
another 3-2 count. fast ball outside, fouled off. twice. again. 101 pitches
Marshall warming
having a hard time putting people away
he destroyed Raburn with the backfoot slider but won't throw it here
finally strikes him out for a career high 9 K's. Losing 5-0
Parra. single through the hole left side 3-3 for GP
Garneau
walks him - walk #3
and Hale will pull the plug at 112 pitches
double switch.

Gosselin out
Segura to 2B
Ahmed in at SS

Bettis pissed on the fire and put it out

That was one of the spots where even though Ray was struggling you would think he could still get a damn pitcher out

Ahmed blasts one off the OOTS in right, Parra plays it well, and Ahmed DAMN LUCKY to be safe at second with a double.
Segura. foul pop to Reynolds. Ahmed started toward third because no one was covering second, to try to draw a throw from Reynolds. scrambled back to second, no problem
Drury. Bettis at 72 pitches
liner to Story, going up the ladder to spear it. 2 out
Goldy. ball 1 low and away. ball 2. no walks for Bettis, 7 K's.
foul 2-1. inside 3-1. doubles to the wall in left center 5-1 Rox
Ahmed scores.
Lamb - slow breaker punches him out
5-1 Rox going to last of 6

Marshall came in and didn't get Bettis out.
He got himself out swinging at ball 4
Hale must have thought he was pushing the pitch count the way it was, and just didn't want to stretch Ray any further

Charlie
grounder right of second
Segura knocks it down
can't hold it, no play = single
Story. long drive deep right center, Owings crashes into the fence holding the ball!!!
Arenado. flies to Drury in Right.
Reynolds. grounds to Ahmed, over to Segura for the easy force
but...
Segura never touched the base!! Blackmon beat it
challenge coming.
inconclusive.
BB saying the shift caused Segura to approach second from an awkward angle
call stands. stupid challenge
has to be more convincing evidence than that.
Samardzija vs Miller Friday
Raburn goes for the 3-0 and fouls it.
two run double right center
had a shot at Reynolds, second runner in, but it's 30 feet up the first base line
cripple fast ball gives the Rox two more
LeMahieu
and the failure to get the force at second cost two runs.
JUST NOT A WELL PLAYED GAME BY THE GUYS IN RED TODAY
grounds to Lamb
7-1 Rox after 6

I don't know who this CAMPBELL guy is, but someone is going to have to make it clear to him that there has to be OBVIOUS evidence that they blew the play before they will overturn it. Wasn't there on that play.

Bettis takes 56 strikes and 26 balls into the 7th
Tomas
Bettis 6 full innings in last 6 starts. That's reliability
Tomas fouls a 3-0. and then smashes it past Bettis for a single. Bettis was falling off to the first base side and had no chance to get his glove on it. Poor fielding position.
Weeks hitting for Marshall. hot shot to Story, knocks it down, rolls into short center. Blackmon had too far to come and it turns into a double. LeMahieu made no effort to go after it, but doubt it would have mattered.
BABE Herrmann. shift on right side. nice easy swing, smash to the wall in right center.
7-3 Rox. great piece of hitting. Was low and out of the zone.
Foster the pitching coach comes out
Estevez warming for the Rox
Owings
jammer and rolled to second. Herrmann to third 1 out
Ahmed. smash to left, 7-4 Dbacks single
somebody say he couldn't hit?
Here comes Walt and Bettis has run out of gas.
