62 strikes 22 balls for RDLR going into the 8th
first foray into the 8th for him this year
Wolters leads off
and gets a walk, first allowed by RDLR
Reynolds
Rubby throwing everything high now so probably tiring
swing and a miss on ball 3
smash past Goldy into right sends wolters to third
Huddy warming
Butcher calls the pen
now comes out to the mound.
Charlie's up. .339 BA career vs AZ
wild pitch, runners move up
5-1 now
Hale comes out
great game for Rubby but he's out of gas

Welke telling Hale that RDLR must pitch the complete AB to Blackmon?
When did that start?

Charlie continues going 1-1
grounds to second
and now Hale comes out
and now RDLR is allowed to leave
and Huddy will take over

Story
runner on third 1 out
pop foul right side Castillo hauls it in - 2 out
Cargo
looper left side, on the line, Lamb dives for it, misses, and it's foul
if it touched his glove at all, it was in foul territory
bounces it to Goldy to end the inning
5-1 AZ as we go to the 9th

What hasn't failed is Steve not mentioning Dinger over and over again

Z will pitch the 9th
Arenado - line drive, too hard, not hard for Tomas to catch it - 1 out
Parra - slow roller down third, nice pickup and gun down by Lamb - 2 out
LeMahieu - flies to Drury in right
DBACKS WIN 5-1
Rockies lose their 7th straight in their home park

Blue Jays defeat Giants 4-0. Giants left the bases loaded in the 9th and Jarrod Parker struck out to end it.
Dodgers and Mets tied at 2 going to last of 9
and Trace Thompson blasts a deep one into the left field
seats giving the Dodgers a 3-2 win on the walkoff
in the last of 9
2 outs, no one on

Wednesday, May 11th

funny incident last night. Rockies got a runner on first, and first base coach Tom Goodwin had to tell him to stop talking to Goldy so he doesn't get picked off. That's why the universally ignored rule is there. Supposed to keep your mind on the game and not talk to the opponent.
* * * * *
stuck with Bert and BB today as it is the ONLY option.
* * * * *
awesome inning last night. Nice even swings, hitting em where they wasn't, singles, doubles, keeping the merry go round moving and scoring without the benefit of a home run.
* * * * *
Blue skies over Denver today, but cold. Temps in the 50s.
Segura,Drury,Goldy,Lamb,Tomas,Gosselin,Herrmann,Owings,Ray
Right hander Chad Bettis pitching. Has not allowed a home run at Coors in 2016.
Parra in right today, Raburn in left, Reynolds at first, Garneau catching for the Rockies.
Ahmed with a day off.
Bettis opens with a 3-0 count on Segura before getting a strike
blasts it into the right field corner for a double.
"Jean the Machine" has it started

I wasn't impressed by the Braves series, but if they keep the Rockies quiet for the 2nd game in a row that'll be something worth feeling good about

And Segura is promptly thrown out at third
first out of the inning at third base. Ball got away from Garneau but not far enough, and he recovered quickly and got him by plenty.
Drury flails miserably on the sweeping cutter way outside. At least BB is calling it a cutter
slow comebacker charged by Bettis, gets it to first in time
So, a promising start to a first inning lead blows up on the basepaths.
Rocks coming up

THey kill us at our place, we're killing them at their place
WIERD! to say the least
I'm not going to have any good feelings about this team until they start winning at home.

Ray with his 16 walks in 30 innings
Charlie lines out to Drury. Blackmon, Story, Arenado, Reynolds, Raburn,Lemahieu Parra, Garneau, Bettis
back in the old days, they didn't hurry through the lineups. They took their time because people would keep score at home.
Story takes Owings to just short of the track for a catch.
6 pitches, 2 out
Arenado, 1-9 in the series, a single in game 1
Dbacks have been able to build up a solid lead in both games
grounder to Goldy and he has to eat it because Ray didn't get over to cover
single
stupid play #2 for the Dbacks today
Bert noting that the Rocks have the high socks on today
Arenado tries to steal second. called out by Carapazza at second
BB doesn't think this can be called correctly. Too much going on, he says. No challenge from the Rockies.
Seems odd to me that Arenado would try to steal with a power hitter at the plate. It gives us a chance to strike out Reynolds to start the next inning - free out basically.
takes the bat out of your cleanup guy's hands. Wonder if Arenado did that on his own.

Lamb leads off the second. takes the count to 3-2. strikes out on the outside 1 out
Tomas. comebacker to Bettis. Of course, Berp notes that he's first pitch swinging, never mentioning it if the guy gets a hit.
Gosselin takes a first pitch strike. grounds to Story and Bettis has 5 outs in a row.
going to last of 2
no score

Reynolds leads off the 2nd. big swing, big miss 0-2
called strike 3 high outside heat. and we get our leadoff strikeout.
Raburn. down and in, swing and miss, back to back K's on the backfoot slider
Greinke vs. Cueto tomorrow night - WOW!
LeMahieu. Maybe it's the day game after a night game. weak swing and miss
strike 2 called and Ray is dealing strikes staying ahead on everybody.
and no sooner do I say that, and he walks LeMahieu
Parra. smash to the right field wall, can't score LeMahieu. gets a double
nice cover by Drury in right, ball died at the wall hitting the chain link out there but Drury able to get it back in to save the run.
visit by Butcher
Garneau. strikes him out. They decided not to walk Garneau and go after Bettis, and after Garneau looked totally lost up there, it seems like a good move.

A Dbacks home run today means a free Jumbo Jack tummyache tomorrow
Herrmann leads off the third. "Don't call me Babe" OMG
skies out to Raburn in left. 6 in a row retired
Owings. blows him away with breaking stuff.
Ray. strikes him out on three pitches
going to last of three scoreless. Seems to be the way this series has gone. scoreless early, big innings later.
toothbrush race happens here, and nearly collided with Segura coming out of the dugout.
would be something if he had to go on the DL because he collided with a toothbrush

Bettis strikes out to start the third
Charlie. hanger on the inside, and it's into the purple pen
and this is the first homer of the series for Purple. "fence high slider"
Rocks draw first blood 1-0
5th HR by Ray this year, all by Colorado
Story. laser beam into right for a single.
Arenado. Story steals second and pitch is in the dirt and Herrmann has to go down for it and his spikes got caught and can't get off a throw
third inning meltdown in progress. Maybe scream should be called in
looked like a world beater first two innings.
several pitches in the dirt here. Trying to keep it down.
and he walks Arenado. Walk #2
Reynolds. low again ball 1. Got serious 4-0 fears here. Ray can't find the zone
single to right and Story with a gorgeous fall away slide, drags his hand across the plate to beat the throw.
2-0 Rocks. got 4-0 fears but it may get worse than that
Ray can't throw strikes and this is what happens as a result.
used to be they struggled in the first two innings.
Nowdays, it's the third or 4th that gets them
ball 1 to Raburn. 2-0. ball 3, check swing strike 1.
Butcher came out but doesn't appear to have helped.
first and third one out, the Bettis strike out
two mile high popup to Goldy. Coors a mile up, popup a mile up = 2 miles
2 out
ball1 to LeMahieu, behind again. way outside 2-0. foul right. strike at the knees 2-2
swing and a miss, 95 MPH on the outside
and the Dbacks get out of this only giving up 2
2-0 Rox after 3

Bradley and RDLR were pretty good throwing strikes
Ray was pretty good throwing strikes -- for the FIRST TWO INNINGS
then he's back to the "Wild Thing" act in the third.
Who was the hall of fame pitcher who said "You have to keep your focus FOR ALL NINE INNINGS". ??
