Greinke has shut down Story, except for his RBI single, with low stuff, sliders in the dirt. Lined out to Ahmed, as Story went down to get the low one but hit it right to Nick.

BB says he is not a fan of the first pitch change up because you have nothing to change from. He says it's OK to throw it, but seems to think a fast ball is better.
* * * * *
Clippard strikes out Arenado with ball 4. This umpire, Toby whatchamacallit must like us
* * * * *
Hudson's wild pickoff throw moves Cargo to second, but no worries because MR is going to strike out. but he walks him, so they fill the open base. Not sure I like this strategy because I'd put more chips on Hundley for an RBI single, than I would on MR.
2-0 on Hundley. Butcher ought to come out
foul 2-1. Hundley thought he had one and says something unprintable.
they get Hundley to bounce into a force to Ahmed. So they come out of it smelling like a rose

Qualls pitching
goes into his stretch and as his glove comes near his face, he blows through the webbing
SPITBALL!

NL West gets any weaker, they'll move it to the PCL

And Z is in trouble again
only one pitch away from a DP, says BB
and Story is up
Bert saying Z is leaving pitches up more than usual this year
getting calls on the low inside. Z will probably go there on the "money" pitch
he did on the "money 1-2" and Story got a piece of it - foul
Story then triples, Peralta fumbles it in the corner, Story lands on third
4-2 Rockies
that was unbelievable! Z threw it low and on the inside and somehow Story puts it
down the RIGHT field line!!

Cargo walks intentionally and now they try to get Arenado to hit into a DP
pulls the first one into the seats foul on the left side
Ahmed is playing in and Arenado hits it right by him
if they were looking for the DP, that was a funny way to play it
5-2 Colorado
Z gets pulled and here comes Curtis for his MLB debut after being called up from Visalia
Class A straight to the majors. Doesn't say much for pitchers at AAA and AA level.
* * * * *
so lefty vs. lefty vs. Parra. Maybe GP will try a bunt
* * * * *
shoulda bunted because he hit into the DP that Z was trying to get
5-2 Rockheads going to....

9 up and 9 down since the Drury homer that tied it
McGee choked on his last save attempt.
Goldy gets a broken bat single, and probably would have been at least a double with a good stick
Russ Ortiz on the post game show, did he say? Does that come with donuts?
and Tomas hits into a DP
this flyweight offense.......
Quit beefin' , Beef, hit the damn ball - at 3-2 now
and he does, double dead central.
three run lead, McGee comes in fat to avoid the walk
Bert, Arenado is 40 feet off third - nowhere close
and Peralta grounds out to end it
* * * * *
So, the Dbacks cannot get a series win and are about to play three series' on the road. But no worry, they play BETTER on the road, huh?
And yes, it is Russ Ortiz on the post game show and it looks like he's had plenty of donuts
tell me the Dbacks WILL win a series at home SOMETIME this year. I thought the team was ready to take off after RDLR's fantastic show Thursday night but it crashed on the runway.

And with the game that was mentioned earlier, Wade Miley shut out the Royals.

WOW!! We are 12-14 and cannot win a game at home, and our star pitchers are not getting the job done.
YET! yet we are just 0.5 games behind first place despite being 12-14 and 4th in our division.
The NL West at present is not exactly the greatest of the MLB Groups.
PS Welcome back D-Surfer, you have been greatly missed and not just because of your wonderful PBP's. The DBBP forum is not the same without you buddy.

Oh? Doesn't Jake deserve a DAY OFF like everyone else? It's just TOO MUCH to expect players to play in EVERY game any more, right? Just might get the boys a little too tired, right?

Thnx. The start of the 2016 season is reminiscent of a few years back when, for basically the first half of the season, all the teams in the division were bunched together, then the Dodgers went on a hot streak and that was all she wrote.

There was one point that year when every team in the NL West had a losing record over about a month and the Dbacks still gained two games in the standings. Feels like that.

Hopefully our offense can get going early today
