I understand that, but they released Russ Ortiz and Erica, didn't they?

That has to be somewhat of a concern. Maybe the Dbacks should wait until after the 2016 season to consider a contract extension for BIG $$$.

Everyone goes through slumps. That said, I don't see why they need to rush an extension for him. They have three seasons plus an option. Obviously, you need to get it done before the option but you could wait till after the 2017 season to make the deal.

If he continues to have MVP number every season...the price tag for that extension increases. Not that it will be cheap at this point.

They have him locked up for his prime years; let someone else absorb the risk for his age-32 and beyond seasons. The Angels can afford to overpay for the decline years of Pujols and DH him, but the D-backs don't have the same luxuries.

Well, not yet i guess. Many believe that DH will come to NL in next CBA

I cringe every time someone mentions that. I hate hate hate the DH, but I'm guessing they aren't looking to appease old timers like myself anymore.
If they are going to have DH for pitchers then why not go the football route and just have totally different offensive and defensive lineups?

Too expensive to have the expanded rosters this would entail.
I'm with you on the DH. I never want to see it in the NL; but I'm sure it's coming, all the same.

Good observation. Pooped ? Preventative ? Nursing an injury ?

Ha, has my absence been that noticeable?! Been checking in, but just hasnt been much to contribute of late... dedicating a lot of free time to coaching my oldest son's football team.
Just popped in my head to see if he still had a shot at 30/30, obviously no longer does... prob a combo of playing relatively meaningless and wanting to avoid excess wear and tear on the body.

Definitely noticeable.
We need to revive this site, its on life support.
I was just wondering if stopping running goes back to his slump, and whether he was nursing injury. I think there is 50/50 chance after season over we read about some i jury he played through

Webb and Goldy, the best homegrown pitcher/position players in Club history, both taken in the 8th round of their respective drafts.
