Surprised Votto made it that close. He had the best season of the three, but is weighed down by a crummy team.

As much as I want to be a homer, I agree with this vote, Votto and Stanton were just clearly better in my eyes.

Goldy had a very good shot going into September, but then he hit .180 over the final month and that widened the gap even more in the final numbers for the 3 of them.

Have even an average month instead of his worst since April 2012? Maybe we are talking about him winning here.

Also, Archie getting that one vote was really surprising.

Nick Piecoro is catching a TON of heat for voting for Votto.

Man has integrity and intelligence, but twitter trolls are all over him tonight.

If you follow Nick and want to do a good thing and stick up for him, that would be great.

We are so lucky to have him too, but the twitter people can't handle him not going with the homer vote now and in 2013. Its disappointing.

Like I said earlier, Goldy wasn't even the MVP of this team in August and September (and i am sure Nick wold agree). But these are casual fans were talking about.

Goldschmidt wasn't even close to being the best player in the N.L. during his best year. If anything, he finished too high in the MVP vote in '13 and '15. In no way, shape, or form has he ever been robbed by the writers of an award.

By my count, there are three awards that the D-backs should've won:

'99 - Johnson MVP
'03 - Webb ROY
'04 - Johnson Cy Young

Those guys were flat-out robbed.

Good list

Wpa , high leverage , etc is enough to get goldy to 2nd in 2013 IMHO, but not to 1st

How should Diamondbacks approach Paul Goldschmidt's contract extension?

Nick is asking questions, good article.

Quote:
Twice this offseason, a pair of Diamondbacks officials were asked about the possibility of extending the contract of first baseman Paul Goldschmidt. Both executives gave similar, unenlightening answers.

In November, CEO Derrick Hall talked about how glad the Diamondbacks are to have Goldschmidt under contract for two more years, then showered him with compliments. A month later, General Manager Mike Hazen flatly said he would not discuss Goldschmidt’s contract, then quickly shifted the topic to the slugger’s value to the team and community.

That neither executive would discuss in detail a topic as sensitive as a star’s contract situation isn’t surprising until you remember how willing the organization has been to talk about it in the past.
