How good would Greinke-Corbin-Webb have been.... :lol:Although, Webb would have been entering his age 37 season and would probably not have been here, anyway.

You take a 9+ WAR pitcher off a 92 win Dodger team and add him to a 79 win Dback team and I think that vaults AZ to the top of the west. Still need to see what moves LA, SF (and AZ) have left, but Greinke has been both very good and durable. For the next three years at least I agree with shoe--the door is open and AZ is poised to go inside.

Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal
Waiting to see how both union and MLB value Greinke deal with #DBacks. Source says $60M+ in deferrals, present value closer to $190M.

So, could that cause this to fall apart?

$1M per start. If he stays healthy.

Nope. It's just saying how they are going to determine the net present value of the contract. $50 million in 20 years is worth less than $50 million today.

I'm just stunned, when I saw reports that the Dodgers were prepared to offer him $35m/yr I thought that this was over, but thank you Diamondbacks for actually going for it. The window to win is now.

They scored enough runs last year to be a playoff team. They need one more back end reliever.

Jon Heyman @JonHeymanCBS
greinke's 60M in deferred monies will be paid out in the first 5 years after the six-year deal #dbacks

Just stunned. Wow.

Yesterday I had this ultra silly scenario in my head that as they were unveiling the new unis, the lights go out like The Undertaker and then as they turn them on, Greinke is on the stage in full uniform. Just one day off. :D

Jayson Stark says we aren't done yet.
