ESPN already is ranking all the teams for next year. Looking forward to the 2016 season.
http://espn.go.com/blog/sweetspot/post/ ... r-rankings

14. Arizona Diamondbacks
If you want a potential playoff sleeper, here's a good pick. The D-backs can score runs and catch the ball. The rotation, however, ranked 23rd in the majors in ERA. They won 79 games, so even some minor upgrades in the starting rotation will be a big boost. And if they can lure a legitimate No. 1 starter to the desert, this could be one of those sub-.500 teams that rises to the postseason.

Vegas lines are out for the WS next year. DBacks listed at 75-1 only five teams with worse odds.

SF Giants at 23-1 why yes I'll take a little bit of that thank you very much.

What are the odds for the DBacks now that they have Greinke?

Down to 18-1 only 10 teams in front of them.

They moved past SF, the Giants are now 20-1.

Dodgers, Cubs, Nats all co-faves to win it all at 9.5-1

A couple of quotes from the Stewart interview stood out to me:

Quote:
. . . I think it is impossible for us to only win 78 games.

Quote:
Anybody who says that, once again, they are hating on what we are trying to accomplish here and not really paying attention.

Stewart doesn't come off well at all in this interview. He's defensive, dismissive, and supports his assertions with vague generalities and superficial analysis. I have no problem with the FO being optimistic in their public comments and/or keeping quiet about their internal assessments, but his statements border on delusion. If the FO honestly can't envision a scenario where they only win 78 games in 2016, they are doing a huge disservice to the fans. It's hard to prepare for the worst if you can't even acknowledge it's possible that things will go wrong.

Stewart's track record is one losing season in which he had no role in acquiring or developing the team's best players. He has a long, long way to go before he deserves the benefit of the doubt.

Seems like he believes the MATH NURDS changed the formula so it would make the Dbacks look worse in the projections too because "they hate us so much"

So this spring means we're the Warriors of baseball, right? right?

17-4, +54 run differential

Happy with a lot of the starting pitching, but not all of it.

A lot of the offense has come from guys that won't be starting, so less impressed by that.

Pollock looks like he'll be opening the season on the DL.

So while the spring record is great and they look ready, I'm still not reading too much into it.

They need good health, first and foremost, and they need Pollock back and healthy, SOON.

It will be interesting to see who Hale chooses to put at the top of the order with Pollock out. This will at least allow him to keep an additional OF'er and put off a decision until Pollock is healthy.

I don't know how much relevance should be put on spring training record, but with the Dbacks being 20-4 (which seems remarkably good) and scoring runs for fun. Should I be getting my hopes up for not just a winning year for our team, but perhaps a post season birth?

One of UK broadsheets had a small bit about baseball and it's growing UK Popularity and in that article it claimed we were one of the favourites this year for the world series.

PS Hope everyone is keeping safe and well.

Absolutely. It's spring... the most hopeful time of the year. After every bad season the refrain is, "Wait 'til next year!" Well, it's next year. The team has brought in the pitching they wanted and say they're in win now mode. So, anything less than a post-season birth will be a disappointment.
