Chip Hale says Archie Bradley was sent back to Phoenix for tests. Didn't feel great after his outing.

Nick Piecoro ‏@nickpiecoro 1h1 hour ago

Hale said he wasn't sure if it was shoulder or elbow or what with Bradley.

Jack Magruder @JackMagruder
#Dbacks RHP Archie Bradley is to get a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews on his right shoulder irritation, #Dbacks GM Dave Stewart said.

Jack Magruder @JackMagruder
#Dbacks Stewart on Bradley: "We're not seeing anything to be alarmed about, but there may be something there." Thus a visit to Dr. Andrews

A visit to the foremost Tommy John surgeon is certainly something to be worried about Stewart.

I'm starting to think that Stewart has the Iraqi information minister as a PR consultant.

Dylan Bundy is being shut down indefinitely with shoulder problems. Interesting that both HS pitchers taken in the top 10 picks in the 2011 draft are suffering from shoulder problems.

No major damage found by Dr. Andrews but will be shut down 4-6 weeks.

Good news, I guess...
Still concerned with the loss of velocity.
Even when he was having success this year the velocity wasn't there and he doesn't have much movement on the FB. I know they wanted him to back off a bit to gain some control, but his stuff looked very average after. Not the explosive stuff I saw a couple years ago.

I remember Joe was saying that all the time in GDTs, so you aren't the only one that thiinks that might be an issue.

who would of thought coming out of spring training the D Backs would have 4 rookie pitchers with more strikeouts than Bradley

Ray's line in that link does not include today's start

Bradley Update

Pretty informative article on the work he was doing in Instrucs to end the season.

While I've long since dialed back my hopes and expectations, it's too early to give up on him.

Hope they don't trade him.

Probably too early to give up on him, although I no longer think he will be a top of the rotation type starter.

Quote:
The fastball ranged from 92 to 95 mph.

That still really concerns me.

Averaging 94-95' topping out at 98 is not who he is going to be, so glad hes focusing on learning how to pitch

I guess not, but that is what he threw in high school and his first couple of seasons in the minors. That was one of the things that made him a top pick and prospect and why the projections were a TOR guy. There are lots of guys in the minors who throw a flat four seamer at 92-95.

Some of the guys picked after him (he was 7th pic)

Sonny Gray, Jose Fernandez, Francisco Lindor, George Springer, Joe Panik

Draft is really a crapshoot, as are the playoffs....

Gerrit Cole, who went 1/1 in 2011, just got his junk knocked in the dirt by the Cubs in the WC play in game.

He had a great year though

"Draft is really a crapshoot"

Yes it is, but Touki Toussaint over Bradley Zimmer? That to me seems like stupidity.
