Been thinking about the last week, and I found what I think is a good comparison.
KT/Gibby Dbacks = the Greg Schiano Tampa Bay Buccaneers (NFL)
Play bad on the field. Do some dumb things on the field. Say many dumb things off the field. Bash players because you don't like them. Caring more about toughness and grit than talent. Dumb personnel decisions. Etc.
The more I think about it. It just fits so well. At least the Dbacks haven't become infested with MRSA though....
And as a bonus, a team on Madden 25 where every player has been turned into Schiano

Show and Go ! Yipee!!
Uh...yeah, based on their "hitting" and "fielding" today, (1 Run Scored, 5 Errors) they may not want to do that again anytime soon.

Towers back for 2015 with Gibson gone?
This from Nick Cafardo at the Boston Globe:
"Kirk Gibson, manager, Diamondbacks — Gibson is on the list of managers who could possibly be fired after the season. If he is, it would be Tony La Russa’s first big decision in Arizona. There’s be a lot of speculation about Joe McEwing, a third base coach with the White Sox, or Mike Aldrete, the bench coach for the Cardinals. GM Kevin Towers would also likely to have a say."

McEwing would be awful to watch in the dugout. He was constantly twitching as a player. Joe Sr., said he would "make coffee nervous".

I still think it's a package deal. If anything Towers first, then Gibby if the new GM wants his own choice.

Speculation, IMO. From Rotoworld:
Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that the Diamondbacks are planning to bring manager Kirk Gibson back for 2015.
It doesn't sound like a sure thing yet, as chief baseball officer Tony La Russa is delaying an official announcement. There's been plenty of speculation that he could prefer to bring in his own guys. The Diamondbacks have regressed since winning the National League West in 2011 (Gibson's first full season at the helm) and currently own a 53-72 record this season.

Gibby's been diagnosed with Parkinson's.

While not my favorite guy or manager, I'd never wish this on anyone and I hope he perseveres through this.

Tough break for Gibby, but I'm sure he'll take this on just like everything else - full steam ahead. Nothing but best wishes for the Gibson family.

While this is not surprising news actually, it still hits pretty hard. I liked the comments made by Jayson Stark in the linked video.
All the Best to Gibby.

Yea you could tell something was off with Gibby the past few years. Slurred, raspy voice (I figured though it was just due to being on pain medication), the "stooped" posture and shuffling gait common to Parkinsons sufferers and just looking like he was always having a hard time doing things like simply walking out to the mound.
Really shitty news.

So not seeing him prior to Dbacks tenure, didn't realize this wasnt "normal" for him.
Wishing him only the best.

I don't know that his "Slurred, raspy voice" and "shuffling gait" was the Parkinson's. If he's in the very early stages he wouldn't necessarily have those symptoms.

I always thought the posture/walking was more from football than anything else. Those old footballers are in bad shape later in life and have great difficulty walking/moving.
