We had a Breaking Bad thread at the previous forum, so I thought I'd make mention that Bryan Cranston won the Emmy for best lead actor in a drama and Aaron Paul won best supporting actor. Great accomplishments for this great show, considering the more popular Mad Men and other shows.

If you can find it go get "The Job" from a few years back on DVD.

Ran on ABC for one year they were idiots and dropped it.

Basically its Dennis Leary and the cast from Rescue Me but they are Cops instead of Fireman.

The BBQ episode is the funniest 22 minutes I have ever seen on TV.

I think they won a few emmys too.

I'm quickly becoming an AMC fanboy. I'm nearly caught up on Mad Men, and I've been watching Rubicon as well. Pretty good. They have a couple more series coming up that I'll surely give a shot. I'm also a big fan of Dexter. When it comes to comedy, it's hard to beat 30Rock and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

For some shows that have gone off the air and are available on DVD, watch Firefly and Arrested Development.

Firefly is awesome!

I don't watch regular TV but end up catching up on the better TV series when released on DVD (via Netflix).

The Wire is by far the best drama series I've ever seen

Lately, I got hooked on Glee. This may not work for everyone, but I relate to it ... since high school sucked and the ONLY thing I liked about those years was band. Jane Lynch's Emmy for supporting actress in "comedy" series was definitely well earned.

These are the shows that I watch (some are out of season right now)

HBO:
True Blood
Entourage - Really lost a step this season
Bored to Death
Big Love

Showtime
Dexter
Weeds (haven't started this season yet)

F/X
Always Sunny in Philadelphia (best comedy on TV)

Comedy Central
South Park

AMC
Mad Men (haven't seen much of this season yet, will get caught up

NBC
Community
The Office (they have been going downhill, I hope this is the last season because I don't see them doing well without Steve Carrell)
30 Rock

CBS
Survivor (I've seen 18 of the 20 seasons and I still love it)
The Amazing Race

Fox
Bones

I also watch Chelsea Lately on E!

Yes, I watch a lot of TV.

True Blood - last season was mostly shit, IMO, but this season has been pretty good. Entourage is definitely past its prime.

And IASIP is by far the best comedy on TV. The tagline "it's like Seinfeld on crack" is right on. I can't wait for the new season.

I gotta agree with moviegeek guy. The Wire is the best drama of that genre I have ever seen. Also had the best finale of any series I have seen.

It's always Sunny star goes into labor at a Philles game

This is too cool (and funny). I didn't know that Mac and Dee were married, let alone expecting a kid.

Quote:
“I went into labor at the Phillies/Dodgers game on Tuesday night,” Olson said in a statement. “As soon as Ryan Howard hit a three-run home run, we felt comfortable leaving to go have our baby…. We love him like crazy, even though he made us miss the second half of the game.”

Yeah, and Charlie is married to the Waitress. That is too cool.

Sunday's episode of Mad Men might be the best episode of the series so far, which says a lot.

Amazing and superb acting from John Hamm and Elizabeth Moss.

Over the last couple years, it has been a horse race for my favorite series, between Mad Men and Breaking Bad. Season 3 of Mad Men ended and I thought it was amazing, and then Season 3 of Breaking Bad tops it, and now Season 4 of Mad Men is rounding the corner and taking the lead...

I'm liking where they are taking the show this season. Don's new secretary cracks me up, did you know she was Daniel's mom in the Karate Kid?

No, I had no idea. But I hear she was a hellcat back in the day. And Bert doesn't have any balls!

I love that they don't make it politically correct for today's era and show how even most of the people on Madison Avenue in the 1960s were very racist and sexist. It must be tough taking your lead characters in that direction and even many feature movies that they do in that era tries to avoid the subject.

I have loved this season. It is definitely darker, with Don on a downward spiral. But I almost think it has been funnier too. From the new secretary, to all of the one liners. I loved the line from Roger last week where he said "He hit a guy with a motorboat. You know how you get past something like that? BY DRINKING!" Or the Japanese businessmen from Honda wondering how Joan doesn't fall over.

First episode of Boardwalk Empire was really good, which should be expected with the names involved.

I tried to get into both Breaking Bad and It's Always Sunny... and couldn't do it, losing interest in them. Here are the shows we have watched or are watching regularly this year:

BBC America: Doctor Who, Torchwood, Being Human
CW6: Nikita
Fox: Fringe, 24
IFC: The IT Crowd [now that may be the funniest show on TV]
PBS: MI-5 [it's like 24, but with a bit more brains - they have other methods than Jack Bauer breaking people's kneecaps and yelling at them...]
Showtime: Dexter, Nurse Jackie
Starz: Spartacus: Blood and Sand
SyFy: Haven, Caprica
USA: Burn Notice

Jim, you're the first person I've ever known to not like It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia.

Although, the first episode of the new season was kind of... well, shit. Hopefully it gets better.

Yeah, it's probably me. ;) I never really liked Seinfeld either, and seems IASIP has a similar approach.

I don't like Seinfeld either. I never got why people think it's funny.

Jim, how far have you gone in Breaking Bad? The third season is much stronger toward the end. I guess that's how tv should be written, but the final episode of season 3 of Breaking Bad made me say "wow."
