Go to East Rutherford and watch this guy before he retires. You are witnessing the greatest goalie ever and the winningest individual in any sport (more wins than Cy Young).

As you probably know, former coach Pat Burns died on Nov 17.

This is assuming the seedings go as I think they will over the next two days.
West 1 Vancouver East 1 Washington
2 SJ 2 Philadelphia
3 Detroit 3 Boston
4 Nashville 4 Pittsburgh
5 LAK 5 Tampa Bay
6 Phoenix 6 Montreal
7 Anaheim 7 Buffalo
8 Chicago 8 Carolina

West East
Van-Chi= Van Wash-Car= Wash
SJ-Ana= SJ Phil-Buff= Phil
Det-Phx= Phx Bos-Mtl= MTL
LAK-Nash= Nashville Pitts-TB= TB

Van-Phx= Van Wash-MTL= Wash
Nash-SJ= SJ Phil-TB= Phil

Van-SJ= SJ Wash-Phil= Washington

SJ-Washington= SJ

Huh... I just realized I have both my number 1 and 2 seeds making the conference finals. That was not intentional at all. I looked at things like goal differential.

The Conference Finals are set now.
Boston-Tampa
Vancouver-SJ

Last time Boston got this far Bourque was still on the team and they played a squad led by some guy named Mario Lemiuex. Both of the times the Penguins won the SC, they beat out Boston in the Conference Final('91 and '92). I guess I am rooting for the Bruins in the East. Have a few relatives that are Bruins fans, well they WERE Whalers fans.

The last time the Canucks were this far, they ended up losing the 1994 SC Finals to the NY Rangers.

The Sharks lost the Conference Finals in both of their previous appearances (I had thought it was only one previous appearance, for some reason). San Jose lost the Conference Finals last year to the eventual SC Champion Chicago Blackhawks. Their other appearance was in 2004, against the Calgary Flames who would lose to the Lightening in that years SC Finals. That was the only time the Lightening have gotten there.

Both of the Western Conference teams have never won the Stanley Cup. Unlike last year, I think the East might have a shot at it this year.

The city / town that hosts the Winter Olympics has always won the Stanley Cup the next year, provided they have an NHL team in the same state or province. Lets look at the evidence.

It boggles the mind... Your team loses game 7 of the championship series, and you respond by turning over vehicles and setting them on fire?

Where do they think they are? Detroit?

Geez, be glad that your team came within a game of winning it all...

They did the same thing in 1994, when they lost to the Rangers.

Boston is now calling themselves Title Town, being from MA and not being a hometown fan is not something I regret, but hey I got to give it to them 7 titles in 10 years...good job Boston.
