My mom was just in SoCal for vacation. One of the things she bought me was an LA Rams hat. (she grew up outside Thousand Oaks, in the 70s...I have a soft spot for the Dodgers because of my mom. Deal with it.)

Go Rams/Giants/Cardinals!

Giants odds down to 23-1 to win the Superbowl!

Can they beat out Carolina, Az, Seattle or GB to get there?

I need more convincing Shoe.

Well I wouldn't go betting mortgage payments.

But a $20 bet might be a decent long shot . ;)

I think they can make the playoffs, but obviously I don't REALLY believe they are a super bowl team at this point in time. We'll have to see how they do when they face better teams than Dallas and New Orleans. Next up are the Redskins at home, and then they have the Vikings and Packers ON THE ROAD in back to back weeks. I think we start to have a good indication after those 3 games. They have to win 2 out of 3, taking at least one of those tough road matchups to put themselves "on the map" as legit contenders to get to the NFC conference final.

If they are 4-1 after the first 5 weeks, the rest of the schedule is a little soft, and their odds will drop under 15-1

Non divisional opponents after the 2 vs. Min and GB are as follows

Ravens
Rams
Bengals
Bears
Browns
Steelers
Lions

The odds are the Giants lost both those tough road matchups vs. Vikings and Packers, go 9-7, or 10-6 at best.....but you never know. If the defense really is this good and the offense picks it up a bit, they could be a lot better than that.

Look me up after week 5

I have them going 8-8 at best, Cowboys running away with the division.

And my best friend is a die hard GIants fan....

Hard to believe that franchise has never won a super bowl. So many good teams over the decades, but never closed the deal

right?
1969 - 1976 they went 87-24-1. . . but lost four SBs in those 8 years, missing the playoffs only once.
Those were my middle/high school years and I didn't particularly like the Vikings. But I had nothing but the highest of regard for how Bud Grant had those guys exercising the most impressive mental discipline playing at the old Met in the cruelest of conditions. . . with no heat.

Those were the great Vikings teams and it's too bad they couldn't win one. Their best team may have been in '75 when Drew Pearson pushed off and the Hail Mary was born. They had another excellent chance in 2000 - that loss to Atlanta was a heart-breaker. Lots of heartache for fans of the franchise, but one day it'll all be washed away.

Before this year I was excited to see Bridgewater take a step forward, witness maybe AP's last season as a top RB and watch the defense cohere. 3 games in they've lost Teddy, AP, the starting LT and a top interior d-lineman (and their #1 CB for the first 2 games) and still beat 2 of the conference favorites. Beating Carolina on the road is an absolutely outstanding win and the D(ominant) is legit. It's a long season, but the start has been awesome.

The Sally Jenkins piece in Washington Post is really really good.

Check it out.

Well no matter what else happens this season, Giants beating the Cowgirls twice in one year feels real good.

Have the Rams no human decency? Fisher just ascended to the top of the NFL most regular season losses of all time list. Can't you give the guy a week to savor his accomplishment?
