I want to see the four best teams play for a championship. "A committee" had the flexibility to recognize that a one loss Alabama from the most talented conference is one of those teams, whereas a rigid system such as yours rewards an overrated team like USC just for winning a weak conference.

I don't see any major glitches in the existing system, so I'm not inclined to look for a fix to a nonexistent problem. And I do see problems with expanding the playoffs which I detailed in an earlier post. In the age of CTE why would anyone want 18-22 year old kids playing an extra game that lengthens their season to NFL proportions? Nor am I inclined to have a University's fan base travel to a league championship game on one coast, fly across the country to play a bowl game/round of 8 playoff (Rose or Fiesta), fly somewhere else again for a semi-final game and then travel to a championship game in a fourth location.

My reply is belatedly in the more appropriate College Football Playoff thread. The relevant posts should probably be transferred to that thread, if possible. Sorry to hijack the UA/ASU thread.

Sumlin, Brown from Troy, or Baldwin Cal's OC have the names I seen around lately

if its Sumlin I would guess Yates stays as DC they worked together at A&M

Arizona: We alluded to this last night and are continuing to hear today that Rick Neuheisel is very much in play for the Arizona head job. Stay tuned… via footballscoop

Neal Brown is staying at Troy

Lauri Markkanen has made 8 3-pt FG, tied for the most in a game by a 7-footer in NBA history (Dirk Nowitzki)

triple option coming to Arizona?

Arizona: Source tells FootballScoop one of the candidates DHR has supported throughout this search has been Navy head coach Ken Niumatalolo. A hire is coming soon. Will be interesting to see if Arizona decides Ken is the right man for the job; and if they can get a deal done. Stay tuned…

Source tells FootballScoop Ken Niumatalolo has informed the search firm (DHR) handling Arizona’s search that he will no longer be part of the process. Multiple national and Arizona reporters have reported the same. Kenny is staying at Navy.

Wow. I’m floored. After Ken declined, I was ready for something terrible to happen. I’m legitimately excited. It’s also hilarious to me that ASU has Herm Edwards as its head coach. Where’s Shadow? I want to hear his thoughts.

SOURCE: New #Arizona head coach Kevin Sumlin will retain DC Marcel Yates (they worked together at A&M) as Cats defensive coordinator. Noel Mazzone is expected to be the new OC. RBs coach Clarence McKinney also is expected to join staff.

The last I have heard from him a couple months ago, his wife was in the hospital. I don't even think he has been on here. I hope for the best.

I'm so glad. Hopefully Sumlin is the next coach, even though it always seemed unlikely to me.

*Just saw that Sumlin is from the same small town as Fred Snowden.

Sumlin mentioning his dad would take about Snowden

Arizona: Kevin Sumlin’s deal is for 5-years, worth $14.5 million total. His initial base pay is $2 million per year for the first two years of the deal, and that increases to $3.5 million per year in years 3-5
