The #Marins receive Lewis Brinson, Diaz, and 2 more players from #Brewers, per @JonHeyman

Not crazy about losing Brinson, but you have to give up something to get something. A great trade for Milwaukee Imo.

Diaz originally went to the Brewers in the Segura trade with AZ.

Thats solid for your guys. Congrats getting a player of that quality.

When all is said and done Monte Harrison might be the player the Brewers regret losing the most.

A little surprised they would trade for Yelich AND sign Cain.

So who among Broxton, Santana, and Braun get traded ?

I assume they move Braun. I figure they have to eat 5-10M of Braun's deal (owed 40M next two years) and don't get much of a return in prospects. But they' still save money.

Braun has full 10/5 no trade rights. The only place he wants to go is LA. Don't see that happening.

My guess is they move Santana for starting pitching. Guess they could maybe trade Thames and play Braun at first.

What about Boston if they can't sign JD Martinez. Braun wouldn't waive for Boston ? I know he's a SoCal guy, but Boston is potential playoff team.

Anything is possible, but I've never heard Braun say he'd be willing to waive his no trade for anyone but the Dodgers. Right now the Brewers are a potential playoff team too (fell two games short last year) and he's pretty comfortable there.

I think the Red Sox end up with JDM anyway.

Sure his preference is to stay.

But if the team wants to trade him he may feel better to say bye.

How does he feel about playing first base ?

What are ur thoughts on Thames trade value ?

My thoughts, Santana is the only one with enough value to get the starting pitching Milwaukee wants. Braun would be salary relief, as would Thames to a lesser extent. First base is not a coveted asset on the trade/free agent market (unless your Votto or maybe Goldschmidt). I do trust Stearns to sort this Rubik's cube out though.
