After a baseball season to remember, the NFL is looking even more dreary

The writer is clearly a fan of one and not the other, so any points he makes get lost in his bias. Both the NFL and MLB have issues. It's a rare football game that I can watch intently and not get bored between play. 8 seconds of play followed by 30 seconds of nothing gets old. Baseball is played at an even slower pace, but I can more often watch a game straight through and only complain about the coach's or catcher's mound visits. Unless Bert is doing PxP.

And I was expecting George Carlin.

Interesting take. Football still rules the rating roost, but their fan base, like baseballs, is starting to age and the younger people I speak with don't seem too interested in the NFL. They are into the NBA, a league that is directly marketed to a younger demographic.

I'm curious what level of viewership NBC is capturing by placing Premier League Games on the network prior to football games kicking off. I found myself tired of the talking-head pre-game shows, so flipped to soccer and wound up watching for far longer than I initially intended to. The uninterrupted free-flowing play was a nice change from the gridiron games interrupted by commercials every other possession.
