Anyone else here have some thoughts on who they'd pick if given a choice?

I won't go into a ton of detail with mine because I know other people can do it a lot better than I could

NL MVP:

Stanton, Votto, Arenado, Goldy, Rendon (could swap out with Bryant here)

Just felt like Stanton and Votto had such good years I couldn't punish them for the rest of their team sucking, they were clearly the best players in the NL in my mind. Stanton overtook Votto just because he was doing the kind of damage to the ball that hasn't been seen in the NL for quite some time, but Votto was still the best all around hitter in the NL and maybe baseball. Goldy was knocked down by his late season swoon after the elbow issues. Prior to his injury my frontrunner was Harper.

AL MVP:

Altuve, Judge, Trout, Ramirez, Betts

Bit of a clearer picture here. I went with Altuve because in the end I felt like he had a more consistently good season, and Judge had a big swoon for most of the second half before bouncing back with a great September. Trout had an amazing year, but sadly injury shortened.

NL Cy Young:

Scherzer

AL Cy Young:

Kluber

Just going along with what most of the voters seem likely to say here, Kershaw's missed time will hurt him, and Sale had an amazing year too but just a slight edge for Kluber in my mind.

No need to post the RotY picks, they're obvious.

Yes, it is. Thank you for posting it.

It still feels like the baseball equivalent of a symposium on Paul Ricouer's theory of narrative - it makes my brain hurt, as it first did some 27 years ago; but I feel as if I grasp at least a tiny little bit of what Mr. James wrote. Heck, I even agree with him, based on whether what I understand is what he actually said...
